The ratings were up with Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as host and Grammy winner Adele as the musical guest, but it was a pre-recorded skit that was the best thing about the November 21, 2015 episode of Saturday Night Live. The real stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens joined SNL cast members and director J.J. Abrams in fake auditions for the new Star Wars film. In the skit, The Force Awakens star John Boyega thinks he received a fake script because he’s auditioning for the part of a black Stormtrooper, Emma Stone tries to convince everyone she’s capable of pulling off any nationality after playing part-Asian in Aloha, and Jon Hamm wrote his own material for the role of Hamm Solo. And Star Wars‘ Daisy Ridley screen tests opposite Michael Bublé as he performs a new version of “Makin’ Whoopee” titled “Makin’ Wookie.”

SNL cast members get in on the auditions playing a Minion-loving Sophia, Javier Bardem suggesting a penis lightsaber, and David Beckham bending BB-8 off the set. Dame Maggie Smith, George Lucas, John Mayer, Shaq, Chris Tucker, Danny DeVito, and Naomi Judd are also represented by SNL cast in the funny four minute skit.
