‘Star Trek: Picard’ Celebrates First Contact Day with a Special Cast Announcement

Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard will reunite Star Trek: The Next Generation stars for the series’ upcoming third season. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner will join Patrick Stewart for season three, with the streaming service making the announcement in honor of the annual First Contact Day celebration.

Paramount+ and CBS’s First Contact Day celebration also includes a fundraiser benefiting charities that support LGBTQ+ equality, veterans, and humanitarian aid. $1 will be donated for every Tweet (limited to one per Twitter account) using the hashtag #StarTrekUnitedGives. The campaign ends on Sunday, April 10th.

Star Trek: Picard season two premiered on March 3, 2022 with new episodes of the 10-episode season arriving on Thursdays. Paramount+’s casting announcement confirmed season three will be Star Trek: Picard‘s final season.

“I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction,” stated season three showrunner/executive producer Terry Matalas. “So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!”

In addition to Matalas, season three will be executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski, and Dylan Massin. Secret Hideout, Roddenberry Entertainment, and CBS studios produce.
