‘The Boys’ Unveils a Final Trailer Leading to the Season 1 Premiere

Amazon Prime Video’s twisted superhero series, The Boys, just released its final season one trailer. The nearly three minute trailer dropped just days before the eight-episode first season is set to premiere on July 26, 2019. Season two of the wild and raunchy series has already been greenlit and is currently in production.

The series is based on the bestselling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, with season one focusing on The Supes of The Seven and The Boys. The Boys are Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and The Female (Karen Fukuhara). The Supes are Homelander (Antony Starr), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).

The first season’s cast also includes Simon Pegg as Hughie’s father and Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell, Vought’s Senior VP of Hero Management.

Eric Kripke (Supernatural) developed the series and serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Kripke also directed the season one finale. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur, Ken Levin, and Jason Netter also executive produce.

The Plot:

The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.
