The popular fantasy series is based on the bestselling novels by Lev Grossman and is executive produced by John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Chris Fisher, Michael London, and Janice Williams.

Syfy released the full two-minute trailer along with an announcement of a season three premiere date. The Magicians will return to primetime on January 10, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, kicking off a third season that will consist of 13 new one-hour episodes.

The Magicians stars Jason Ralph as Quentin Coldwater, Stella Maeve as Julia Wicker, Olivia Taylor Dudley as Alice Quinn, Hale Appleman as Eliot Waugh, Arjun Gupta as William “Penny” Adiyodi, Summer Bishil as Margo Hanson, and Rick Worthy as Dean Fogg. Additionally, The Magicians season three has added Felicia Day to the cast as Poppy.

Commenting on being a part of the cast, Felicia Day told Nerdist she’s a major fan of the series. “I am thrilled to join The Magicians this season,” stated Day. “The show is one of my favorites, the cast is incredible to work with, and showrunner, Sera Gamble, is one of my Hollywood heroes. I can’t wait for fans to meet Poppy!”

Season two increased its ratings over season one and doubled its social media engagements, according to Syfy. The network reports a 15% increase in viewership among adults 18-49 and a 23% increase among adults 18-34.

The Plot: The Magicians centers on Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his 20-something friends as they are thrust into the unfamiliar world of the beautifully enchanting yet mysteriously dangerous Fillory – and places beyond – where they must draw upon their novice skills to save the existence of magic.
