Video: ‘The Power’ Series Opening Moments Tease the Revolution to Come

Prime Video’s adding to the buzz about their new thriller The Power with a sneak peek at the series’ opening moments. The minute-and-a-half video features Oscar nominee Toni Collette and a montage of scenes of young women embracing their powers.

“We never dared to imagine it…a world that was built for us. Where we made the rules. Where we could take what we wanted. A world where God looked like us. Where we were not afraid. Where we were the ones to be feared. But that world was at our fingertips. All we had to do was burn down the world that was,” says Toni Collette as Mayor Margot Cleary-Lopez.

She adds: “Every revolution begins with a spark.”

The sci-fi thriller’s based on the bestselling novel by Naomi Alderman. In addition to Collette, the cast includes John Leguizamo (The Menu) as Rob Lopez, Auli’i Cravalho (Moana) as Jos Cleary-Lopez, and Toheeb Jimoh (Ted Lasso) as Tunde Ojo. Josh Charles (We Own This City) plays Daniel Dandon, Eddie Marsan (The Contractor) is Bernie Monke, Ria Zmitrowicz (Mr. Selfridge) plays Roxy Monke, Zrinka Cvitešić is Tatiana Moskalev, and Halle Bush stars as Allie Montgomery.

Raelle Tucker (True Blood) guides the Amazon Studios and SISTER production as showrunner.

The first three episodes will premiere on Prime Video on March 31, 2023. New episodes follow on subsequent Fridays, leading up to the May 12th season finale.

The Power is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will. The series features a cast of remarkable characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world.”
