Vikings star Travis Fimmel is confirmed to star in the heist movie Finding Steve McQueen, based on real events. AMBI Group also announced Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), Forest Whitaker (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), and William Fichtner (Empire, Mom) have committed to starring roles, with John Finn, Rhys Coiro, and Louis Lombardi on board in supporting roles.

Ghost Rider director Mark Steven Johnson is set to helm Finding Steve McQueen from a script by Keith Sharon (Showtime) and Ken Hixon (City by the Sea). Anthony Mastromauro, Silvio Muraglia, Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, and Alexandra Klim are producing, and Mikael Wiren is executive producing. Filming is expected to begin in Atlanta in September 2016.

“Aligning a cast of this caliber with a fearless director like Mark has us all excited to see this story come to life,” said Iervolino. “This is an explosive, character-driven film, smartly told in a way that will keep audiences guessing throughout. We’re eager to bring this amazing group together and start shooting in just a few weeks.”

Producer Mastromauro added, “I’m excited to see this caliber of talent come together on a project that has been near and dear to my heart for some time. Mark Steven Johnson has put together a wonderful cast led by Travis Fimmel, who I believe is a movie star in the making, and I’m thrilled to have him lead a truly fantastic cast.”

The Plot: Finding Steve McQueen is based on the true story of the biggest bank heist in US history. In 1972 a gang of close-knit thieves from Youngstown, Ohio attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money from President Richard Nixon’s secret fund.
