Phillip Phillips managed to win season 11 of American Idol while battling kidney stones that had him resting and in pain in between performances. Now with the show over and the American Idol tour looming on the horizon, Phillips underwent a six hour surgery to remove the massive stones he was unable to pass.
TMZ reported he had the surgery on Wednesday, June 6th and that he’s expected to fully recover in time for the tour, which kicks off on July 6th. The Hollywood Reporter says Phillips had eight surgeries during the American Idol season to treat the buildup of kidney stones.
