Brad Bird ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ IMAX Featurette

Brad Bird

In this new featurette from Paramount Pictures, director Brad Bird (Ratatouille, The Incredibles) talks about his decision to shoot parts of the fourth Mission Impossible film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, in the IMAX format. What’s really interesting is he admits some people who’ve seen clips from the film report feeling vertigo because the screens are so big, according to Bird, “that they actually feel like they’re going to tumble into them” – which, and this might just be me, but I don’t think is exactly a major selling point for the film. Will audiences pay to experience vertigo?

Official Synopsis: This is not just another mission. The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in a global terrorist, bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt and his rogue new team must go undercover to clear their organization’s name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this.

Rated PG-13, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens in theaters on December 21, 2011.
