Marvel Studios’ Captain America unveiled a new video during the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship game and the reaction from comic book fans after bringing it online was swift and overwhelmingly positive. Apparently this is the video (Disney labels it a “Special Look”) they’ve all been waiting for, according to YouTube commenters who seem to be more impressed with this video than any previously released footage. Why? More humor, more emotion, and more action scenes with Captain Marvel showing off her powers.
The superhero film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Samuel L Jackson is Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn is Talos, Djimon Hounsou is Korath, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Lee Pace is Ronan, and Lashana Lynch is Maria Rambeau. The cast also includes Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Rune Temte as Bron-Char, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace as the young Carol Danvers, Annette Bening, Jude Law as Starforce, and Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson.
The filmmaking team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (It’s Kind of a Funny Story, Mississippi Grind) directed Captain Marvel. Boden and Fleck also wrote the screenplay with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer. Marvel’s Kevin Feige produced and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Patricia Whitcher and Stan Lee executive produced.
The behind the scenes team includes cinematographer Ben Davis, editors Debbie Berman and Elliot Graham, production designer Andy Nicholson, and costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays.
