Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped a two-minute teaser trailer for Joker 2, formally known as Joker: Folie à Deux, delivering the first good look at Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix and Oscar winner Lady Gaga together on screen. The teaser confirms the sequel’s musical element and shows Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn dancing to “What the World Needs Now is Love.”
The studio hasn’t released a synopsis for the sequel which is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
Joker‘s Todd Phillips returns to direct and co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. The first film was released in theaters in October 2019. The R-rated comic book-inspired thriller had a $55 million budget and rang up $96 million over its opening weekend. It grossed over $1 billion worldwide before exiting theaters.
