‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Official Trailer and Character Posters Debut

After dropping a teaser trailer during the Super Bowl teasing the release of the actual trailer, Lucasfilm today released the official trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story. The new trailer shows off brief scenes with each of the key players in this Star Wars prequel, but of course focuses on the young Han played by Alden Ehrenreich.

“I was kicked out of Flight Academy for having a mind of my own. I’m going to be a pilot – the best in the galaxy,” says Han (Ehrenreich) before putting his money where his mouth is in the one minute 44 second trailer.

Lucasfilm and Disney also released four character posters featuring Han Solo, Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke), and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo). The cast also includes Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Paul Bettany.

Filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller began as directors on the Han Solo project before exiting the film, with Ron Howard picking up the reins and finishing the movie. After boarding the film Howard kept fans apprised of the behind the scene happenings via his social media accounts, showing off photos from the set and even announcing the film’s official title with an Instagram post.

Howard directed from a script by Jon Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan. Solo: A Star Wars Story will open in theaters on May 25, 2018.

The Plot: Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
