‘The Art of Racing in the Rain’ Trailer and Poster: Grab Your Issues

I’m so ready/not ready for The Art of Racing in the Rain. I’m not embarrassed to admit I’ve never cried over a book the way I sobbed over Garth Stein’s tale of a very good boy who loves race cars (as referenced in the title) and his family with unflagging enthusiasm and loyalty.

The official trailer introduces Enzo, his two-legged dad Denny, and their mutual love for Formula One racing. This Is UsMilo Ventimiglia leads the cast as Denny and Oscar winner Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves) provides the voice of Enzo. Amanda Seyfried, Gary Cole, Kathy Baker, Ryan Keira Armstrong, and Martin Donovan also star in the touching drama.

Simon Curtis (Goodbye Christopher Robin, My Week with Marilyn) directed from a screenplay by Mark Bomback (War for the Planet of the Apes, The Wolverine). Neal H. Moritz, Patrick Dempsey and Tania Landau produced, and Donald J. Lee and Joannie Burstein executive produced.

Simon Curtis’ behind the scenes team includes director of photography Ross Emery, production designer Brent Thomas, costume designer Monique Prudhomme, and editor Adam Recht.

Walt Disney Studios is releasing the Fox 2000 production in theaters on August 9, 2019.

The Plot:

A heartfelt tale narrated by a witty and philosophical dog named Enzo (voiced by Costner). The film follows Enzo and his best friend and owner, Denny Swift (Ventimiglia), an aspiring Formula One race car driver, as they navigate the journey of life and the loves of Denny’s life – his wife, Eve (Seyfried), their young daughter Zoe (Armstrong).
