Raye, Sombr, and Teddy Swims will honor the career of George Michael during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. CBS and MTV announced the artists will perform a special tribute in celebration of the 40th anniversary of George Michael’s Faith album.
The 2026 VMAs will be hosted by Snoop Dogg and air live on Sunday, September 27 at 4:30pm PT/7:30pm ET on CBS.
Raye will take the VMAs stage for the first time, performing both solo and in the tribute. Already a two-time winner, she’s up for two more awards this year, including Song of the Year for “Where Is My Husband!” After wrapping her own sold-out tour and releasing her acclaimed album This Music May Contain Hope, she’s now touring stadiums with Bruno Mars.
Sombr returns to perform at the VMAs with three nominations, including Song of the Summer and Best Alternative. After the success of his singles “Homewrecker” and “My Body Isn’t Ready,” he’ll be launching his global “You Are The Reason” tour, starting September 29 in Vancouver.
Teddy Swims comes back to the VMAs for the first time since 2024. Swims just released “Perfect Man” and will drop his new album, UGLY, on January 22, 2027. Tonight, he kicks off the U.S. leg of “The UGLY Tour” in Kansas City.
CBS and MTV previously announced Taylor Swift will be the inaugural winner of the MTV VMA Artist Director award. Nirvana will also be recognized with the 2026 VMAs Video Vanguard Award, marking 34 years since they first took the VMAs stage.
