ABC Family has good news and bad news for fans of Switched at Birth and Twisted. First up, the bad news. Twisted has been in limbo since it finished up its first season back in April, but now it appears the series will not be back. Twisted, starring Avan Jogia, had earned three Teen Choice 2014 awards nominations but it didn’t draw in enough viewers to warrant a second season pick-up order.

The news is much better for fans of the network’s Switched at Birth. ABC Family has given the dramatic series a fourth season order. Season three will finish up on August 18th and has been pulling in enough female viewers to make it cable TV’s #1 series in its time period, according to the network.

“Fans will be clamoring for season four and to know what happens with Daphne and Bay after the season three finale next week,” stated Tom Ascheim, President ABC Family.

The Switched at Birth Plot:

The critically-acclaimed Switched at Birth tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Despite overwhelming socio-economic and ethnic differences, both families must learn to co-exist as parents and blend their lives into one for the sake of their daughters.

Switched at Birth stars Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano, Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett, Lea Thompson, Lucas Grabeel, Sean Berdy, and Marlee Matlin.
