Paramount Network has set a June 20, 2018 premiere date for the dramatic series, Yellowstone, starring two-time Oscar winner Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves). The scripted series comes from filmmaker Taylor Sheridan, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Hell or High Water. Sheridan wrote and directed the new Paramount Network series, and he also serves as an executive producer.
Kevin Costner co-stars with Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Gil Birmingham, Josh Lucas, Jefferson White, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Ian Bohen, Heather Hemmons, and Denim Richards. Costner pulled double duty as an executive producer along with Sheridan, John Linson, and Art Linson.
The series was shot in Montana and Utah.
The Plot: In Yellowstone, Costner stars as John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny – where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
Dave Annable plays John Dutton’s oldest son Lee, a cowboy, who serves as his father’s right-hand man in running the ranch. Gil Birmingham is Thomas Rainwater, a steely and proud Chief of an Indian Nation challenging the Dutton family. Luke Grimes stars as John Dutton’s youngest son Cory, an emotionally reserved ex-Navy SEAL who lives with his Native American wife and seven year old son on the reservation. Wes Bentley is John’s other son Jamie, a polished lawyer considering a career in politics who continues to seek approval from his father despite his love for the limelight.
Kelly Reilly plays John’s daughter Beth, a smart and powerful woman who is always prepared to fight alongside her father. Cole Hauser is Rip Wheeler, a tough and merciless wrangler from Yellowstone Ranch who will stop at nothing to get the job done.
