‘Britannia’ Trailer Arrives Starring ‘The Walking Dead’s David Morrissey

A new trailer’s premiered for Amazon Prime’s original action series Britannia starring David Morrissey (The Walking Dead, The Hollow Crown). The dramatic series will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers beginning Friday, January 26, 2018, with all nine one-hour episodes released online, on the Amazon Prime Video app, and Amazon Fire TV on that date for those into binge-watching.

In addition to David Morrissey, the Britannia cast includes Kelly Reilly (True Detective, Sherlock Holmes), Zoë Wanamaker (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, My Family), Nikolaj Lie Kaas (The Killing, Child 44), and Eleanor Worthington-Cox (The Enfield Haunting, The Dark Outside).

The series was created by Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem, Spectre), Tom Butterworth, and James Richardson. Jez Butterworth and Tom Butterworth also wrote the series along with Richard McBrien (Spooks). James Richardson (Monsters), Sam Mendes (Skyfall), Pippa Harris (Call the Midwife), Nicolas Brown (Penny Dreadful), Jez Butterworth, and Anne Thomopoulos are the series’ executive producers. Rick McCallum (Star Wars) serves as a producer. Britannia season one was directed by Sheree Folkson (Call the Midwife, Hit and Miss), Luke Watson (Ripper Street, Shameless), Christoph Schrewe (Borgia, Criminal Minds), and Susan Tully (Grange Hill, EastEnders).

The series marks the first co-production between Sky Original Production for Sky Atlantic and Amazon Studios.

The Plot: Filmed overseas in Prague and Wales, Britannia is set in 43AD as the Roman Imperial Army, determined and terrified in equal measure, returns to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia, a mysterious land ruled by wild warrior women and powerful Druids who can channel the powerful forces of the underworld.
