How does that determine who you are in the rest of your life?”

‘Implosion: The Titan Sub Disaster’ Clip Captures the Final Bang

In 2011, adventurer Josh Gates shot footage inside the Titan submersible for his Expedition Unknown series. Gates ultimately opted not to finish production on the planned episode after a “disturbing” interview with OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and what’s described as a “problematic test dive.” Discovery Channel’s Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster reveals Gates’ footage, which has never been released, along with interviews with technicians and other who worked on Titan’s test dive.

The above clip shows three minutes of footage around the time of a loud bang. That bang is now believed to have been the implosion of the Titan submersible. The two-hour special will air on May 28, 2025 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery.

Implosion: The Titanic Implosion Disaster explores the factors leading up to that fateful day, from the founding of the OceanGate company by CEO Stockton Rush to the start of construction of the Titan – a first-of-its-kind carbon fiber submersible designed to take tourists down to the Titanic for a trip of a lifetime,” reads Discovery Channel’s synopsis. “The special provides a detailed account of the final mission, culminating in the tragic implosion, and igniting conversations about the necessary parameters of deep-sea exploration and safety protocol in the aftermath.”

The Titan sub disaster special features video from inside the submersible along with unprecedented access to the United States Coast Guard’s Marine Board of Investigation.

“The Titan story captivated the world’s attention from the moment the vessel lost contact with the surface,” stated Howard Lee, Chief Creative Officer of US Networks and President of Discovery Networks. “In this special, we will probe into the fascination with exploration, the risks that we are willing to take, and the ultimate price one can pay when pushing the limits of technology. It is a compelling journey into the haunting reality of this tragedy.”

‘The Waterfront’ Series Trailer Intros a Dysfunctional Crime Family

Netflix’s released the official trailer for The Waterfront, a new crime drama inspired by true events. The trailer introduces the powerful Buckley family and teases the lengths they’re willing to go to to save their family business.

The series stars Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Jake Weary, Melissa Benoist, Rafael L. Silva, Humberly González, Danielle Campbell, and Brady Hepner. Topher Grace, Dave Annable, Michael Gaston, Gerardo Celasco, and Zach Roerig guest star.

“For decades, the Buckley family has ruled Havenport, North Carolina, dominating everything from the local fishing industry to the town’s restaurant scene,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “But their fishing empire has started to crumble as patriarch Harlan Buckley (McCallany) recovers from two heart attacks, and his wife Belle (Bello) and son Cane (Weary) venture into the deep end to keep the family businesses afloat.

As their attempts spiral out of control and into treacherous waters, Harlan steps back in to take command. Facing her own demons, Buckley daughter Bree (Benoist) — an addict in recovery who’s lost custody of her son Diller (Hepner) — finds herself entangled in a complicated relationship that could threaten the family’s future forever.”

The series was created by Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries) who serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. “It’s about a bunch of people who make mistakes, they do some bad things, and then they get in deeper and deeper and deeper,” said Williamson, describing his latest series to Netflix’s Tudum.

The eight episode first season premieres on Netflix on June 19, 2025.

Disney’s at it again. After the giant box office bomb earlier this year of their live-action Snow White, the studio has remade another of their beloved animated films, Lilo & Stitch, into a live-action CGI movie. If only it were worth watching.

The story is pretty much the same as the zany and lovable 2002 film. The little furry blue alien Stitch (voiced again by Chris Sanders) escapes from his planet, where he was about to be exiled for being too dangerous a weapon created by Jumba (Zach Galifianakis). Stitch crash lands on planet Earth—Hawaii, to be exact—and the chase is on, with Jumba and Agent Pleakley (Billy Magnussen), the alien expert on Earth, trying to capture the escapee.

Stitch ends up at an animal shelter where he’s mistaken for a dog, which is one of the film’s running gags. He winds up being adopted by little Lilo (Maia Kealoha), an outgoing and rambunctious little girl who doesn’t have any friends. Lilo takes him home, and the two quickly bond over being silly, obnoxious, and mischievous. This makes life even more difficult for Lilo’s older sister, Nani (Sydney Agudong), who is trying her best to be both sister and mother to Lilo since their parents died.

One funny example of this is when Nani is hunting for a job and Lilo and Stitch keep unintentionally sabotaging her interviews by creating chaos and destruction while entertaining themselves.

As Stitch spends more time with Lilo and Nani, he begins to understand what friendship, love, and family are all about. Stitch needs to avoid being captured by Jumba and Pleakley so that he can be part of Lilo’s family for good.

Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch remake has the goofy, madcap chaos of the animated film but is missing the magic and heart that made the 2002 film so endearing. It’s a loud, shallow, and empty retooling of a story already told perfectly the first time around.

The performance of young Maia Kealoha as Lilo is, sadly, one of the weaker parts of the film. Her ear-piercing screams and headache-inducing laughter make Lilo an annoying, unruly brat instead of the odd, well-meaning, and lovable little girl she’s supposed to be. Kealoha also delivers her lines poorly, almost as though she’s reading them. This is especially true in the few quiet and more intimate scenes with her sister, Nani.

Sydney Augdong delivers a decent performance as Nani, the semi-responsible older sister who is desperately trying to take care of Lilo and stay one step ahead of social worker Mrs. Kekoa (Tia Carrere) so she can remain Lilo’s guardian.

The best things about the remake are Chris Sanders returning to voice Stitch and the appearance of Stitch and the character’s integration into scenes. The film does capture the spirit and cuteness of the creature, but it already is there to be watched and enjoyed in the 2002 original film.

Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch is soulless, forgettable, and proof that they should have left the original alone.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3 Details

Alert: Missing Persons Unit is a procedural drama set in the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU). Each episode features a heart-pounding, life-or-death search for a missing person, with Jason Grant working his magic out in the field and Nikki Batista heading the team. Their job is to find the missing or abducted and reunite them with their loved ones. Jason and Nikki, once married, have a very personal connection to these cases as their own son went missing and was never found.

Their highly skilled team includes Nikki’s new husband, Mike Sherman, whose bantering bromance with Jason never gets in the way of results; Kemi Adebayo, a spiritually savvy detective with an astonishing knowledge base; and Helen Gale, MPU’s effervescent young forensic scientist. Jason also relies on his relationship with master hacker Wayne Pascal, both on and off the clock.

As the third season begins, MPU is tasked with cases ranging from a missing female collegiate rowing team who disappeared while on the water, a missing street artist due to donate his rare bone marrow to save his dying brother, and Nikki’s ongoing and dangerous association with Irish mob boss Charlie McGannon. But the most harrowing case to date is when MPU must band together in a race to find one of their own. Now more than ever, together, the team must work to find the missing or abducted and help reunite them with their loved ones before it’s too late.
