The official trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil season three finds Matt Murdock admitting that while he was trying to help people, he was actually only fooling himself. “Darkness only responds to darkness,” declares Daredevil (Charlie Cox).
The two and a half minute trailer also reveals Wilson Fisk has cut a deal and is out of prison, and he’s claiming he’s a new man. Now free, he blames the violence taking over the city on none other than Daredevil, turning citizens against the masked vigilante.
In addition to Charlie Cox, the cast of season three includes Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Joanne Whalley (Sister Maggie), Wilson Bethel (Benjamin Poindexter) and Jay Ali (Rahul “Ray” Nadeem).
Marvel’s Daredevil season three is set to premiere worldwide October 19, 2018 on Netflix. Erik Oleson (The Man in the High Castle) is this season’s showrunner and serves as an executive producer.

Camila Cabello leads the list of 2018 MTV EMA nominees with six including nods in the Best Video and Best Song (“Havana”) categories. Cabello’s followed by Ariana Grande and Post Malone with five nominations each, with the three artists among those who will be competing in the Best Song category. Shawn Mendes, Drake, and Dua Lipa are close behind with three nominations.
This year’s MTV EMAs will air on Sunday, November 4, 2018. The awards show will take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain and will air live beginning at 7pm ET.

In the latest video from Summit’s Hunter Killer, cast members Gerard Butler (Olympus Has Fallen) and Oscar winner Gary Oldman (Best Actor for Darkest Hour) discuss working on the submarine thriller. The U.S. Navy assisted the cast and director Donovan Marsh in realistically bringing to the screen a story set on board a submarine. The Navy sent a subject matter expert to work with the cast on their lines and to learn how the Navy operates.
The film’s based on the book Firing Point by retired naval officer George Wallace and author Don Keith, with Arne L. Schmidt adapting it for the screen.
“It’s absolute necessity to have someone here who has actually been on submarines and knows the protocol,” said Gary Oldman about the Navy’s involvement in the project.
“The Navy was tremendously generous in giving us a real nuclear submarine,” explained director Donovan Marsh. “We shot on the submarine with a real crew. And then we needed to take a submarine out to sea so I could film it out in the water.”
According to Captain Russell Coons, the Pentagon’s War Room Advisor, Hunter Killer marks the first time a Virginia-class submarine appears in a feature film.
Discussing his preparation for the film, Gerard Butler said, “I also went out on a submarine underway. As the captain of a nuclear sub, I was taken through every part of the sub which is a city unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. It blows my mind.”
Butler also described the amount of detail put into the design of the submarine. “We had a team go to Pearl Harbor and they did a blueprint exactly of those subs, and then they were recreated.” He added, “You have the navigation charts, you have the periscope screens, you have all the sonar screens and you’re literally, ‘I’m on a sub. I’m in a control room on a sub.'”
The cast of the action thriller also includes Oscar winner Common (Best Original Song, Selma), Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Toby Stephens (Die Another Day).
Hunter Killer is set to open in theaters on October 26, 2018.
Hunter Killer Plot:
Deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Butler) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII.
Since making his debut in The CW’s The Flash season four, Hartley Sawyer’s quickly become a fan favorite. His character, Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man, was so popular with fans that Sawyer’s been elevated to a series regular for the show’s fifth season.
The cast of The Flash are San Diego Comic Con veterans, however the 2018 Con marked Hartley Sawyer’s first time joining Team Flash at the sold-out convention. During our roundtable interviews, he talked about his experiences with fans as well as his hopes for Ralph in season five.
Congratulations on becoming a series regular on the show.
Hartley Sawyer: “Thank you. It always feels good to be regular.”
Since you’ll have more time with Ralph, are there any aspects of him you hope you get to play with more this season?
Hartley Sawyer: “Detective. The detective aspect of the character is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. That’s something that we’re definitely going to get into this year. It’s a big, big aspect of the character and I’m really excited about it.”
Will there be a new version of the Elongated Man suit this season?
Hartley Sawyer: “We actually haven’t talked about that. That’s a really, really interesting idea and it gave me an idea for a change. I love that you just said that. But, we haven’t talked about that – but that’s a really interesting idea.”
Are we going to see more of the Ralph and Barry dynamic that we saw from last season? At first, they almost couldn’t stand each other but then they became like brothers.
Hartley Sawyer: “That’s sort of what they are. I don’t think we’re going to see as much of that, at least in the first part of the season, because he’s going to be up to his eyeballs with Nora – with his daughter. They’re going to be figuring that out.
I think he and Ralph developed each other the way they needed to where they could be more self-sufficient. I would love to do more of that, but everybody can’t always get loads of time on the show. It would be nice, but it’s just not the way it works. So, I think we’ll get some of that but not as much as last year.”
Since Barry’s going to be so busy, who do you hope Ralph interacts with more on the show?
Hartley Sawyer: “I would love to see…there’s going to be a lot of Ralph and Caitlin, which I really like. I think that’s a really sweet relationship and friendship that they have. There’s going to be a lot of Ralph and Cisco since they’re bachelors now and single.
I would love to see, we haven’t talked about it but I would love to see Ralph and Joe West. I just want to see those guys. There’s a lot there. I mean, Joe’s known Ralph for a really, really long time. He knows who he is and what he’s capable of and everything. He was the first person who ever defended Ralph to anybody anyway in the first episode that Ralph came in.”
And Ralph had a major impact on Joe when he was about to cross that line.
Hartley Sawyer: “Great scene. That was such a pivotal scene for the character. That was something that really kind of drew the line in the sand, I think, for a lot of viewers and for me as an actor. I was like, ‘Cool. This is really going to dig into who this guy really is.’ There’s a lot more there than just the wackiness.
But I would love to see more of that Joe stuff. I thought that was a great, fun scene and I love working with Jesse (L. Martin) because he’s awesome. I’d love to see more of that.”
What’s Ralph’s main focus this season?
Hartley Sawyer: “I think finding his place in the team now that he’s back. Last year was all about, like, ‘Am I a hero? Can I do this? Can I not do this?’ But it’s now about finding his place in the team and really what that means to him and what he can bring to the team.”
Does the new season feel any different given the changes behind the scenes?
Hartley Sawyer: “It just feels like the same thing going to work. It really does. It feels like the same thing as last year – just like a natural progression of things. I know the scripts changed a little bit, the tone’s changed a little bit.
The reason this show works is because of the people working together. Working with Grant (Gustin), working with Carlos (Valdes), working with Tom – all those people. Those relationships are always there. I think that’s why this show worked in the first place. I really do. I mean even going back way, way before my time here. It’s because these people really like each other and they’re all really good people and they get along. I think that came through on camera and on TV screens. I really, really do.
When I would watch it I was like, ‘This is really cool.’ I didn’t expect it to be as cool and as great as it was, and it became phenomenal. It’s because of those relationships. Those will always be there so there is that throughline through each season.”
What’s your experience been like with the passionate fandom?
Hartley Sawyer: “It’s been really fun. People do the conventions, the autograph conventions, and I did my first one this past summer. I was super nervous about it and it was one of the most incredible experiences that I’ve had because what it was just so many people coming up being like, ‘I love this. I love this show.’ Or, ‘I went through this really hard thing in my life and the first time I smiled was watching this show when your face fell off.’
I was like, ‘Wow, what more can you ask for than just letting people forget their worries and just tune out and enjoy yourselves. That’s very special to me and that’s been my experience with the fandom is they love it. Love it. I grew up a comic book fan too, so I love all this stuff as well. It’s exciting to be a part of it.”
DC Universe hosted the world premiere of the new live-action series Titans at the New York Comic Con on October 3, 2018. Fans in attendance at the screening in advance of the series’ October 12th debut were treated to news on two additional DC Universe projects: Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn.
The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco has come on board Harley Quinn to voice the titular character. Cuoco and her Yes, Norman Productions will also be executive producing the animated series along with Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey.
A special video for the Harley Quinn series was shown at the NYCC Titans screening (see above) followed by a surprise appearance by Cuoco herself.
Cuoco is joining a voice cast that includes Lake Bell (Wet Hot American Summer series), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Ron Funches (Powerless), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Wanda Sykes (black-ish), and Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul). Natalie Morales (Bojack Horseman), Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), and Chris Meloni (Happy!) also lend their voices to the DC Universe series.
DC Universe’s Doom Patrol also broke casting news at the New York Comic Con’s Titans screening. Brendan Fraser, the voice of the series’ Robotman (he’s also playing Cliff Steele in flashback scenes), was on hand to break the news Matt Bomer has signed on to the Doom Patrol cast.
Per DC Universe’s official casting announcement, “Bomer will provide the voiceover performance for the character of Negative Man, and he will also appear as Larry Trainor in flashback scenes. Bomer further surprised fans with a special video greeting from the Atlanta-based set, exclusively for those in attendance at NYCC.”
It was also confirmed Matthew Zuk will provide the physical performance of Negative Man on the set in costume. Riley Shanahan is handling Robotman’s physical performance. (This will make much more sense when the series premieres.)
The cast of Doom Patrol also includes Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder/The Chief, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, and Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody.

The Doom Patrol Plot:

HBO’s just released the first official photo of Oscar winner Helen Mirren in Catherine the Great. The HBO/Sky miniseries also announced new cast members and revealed details on the miniseries’ key characters.
The four-part miniseries was written by Nigel Williams and directed by executive producer Philip Martin. Helen Mirren also serves as an executive producer along with David M. Thompson from Origin Pictures and Charlie Pattinson and Christine Healy from New Pictures.
The dramatic series is now shooting in Russia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Filming’s taking place in actual palaces as well as on sets, according to HBO.
The Catherine the Great Plot:
“Set against the politically tumultuous and sexually charged court of Russian empress Catherine the Great, who wielded supreme power throughout Russia for nearly half of the 18th century, the limited series follows Catherine towards the end of her reign during her passionate affair with Grigory Potemkin. Season nine of AMC’s The Walking Dead will premiere on Sunday, October 7, 2018, with the upcoming season marking the beginning of the end for Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. With the new season just days away from its debut, AMC’s released the opening credit sequence which was created by Huge Designs.
“The opening credit sequence is indicative of the new look and feel to the world this season and we wanted to give a nod to the show’s graphic novel origins,” said executive producer and showrunner Angela Kang. “As we jump into a new chapter of the story, we wanted to present something fun and fresh for our viewers to reflect the changing landscape, where nature will be playing a bigger role. While our survivors work to rebuild and adjust to the crumbling infrastructure, the threat of the dead is constantly looming. The Walking Dead Season 9 Plot:
“Last season brought the culmination of ‘All Out War,’ which pitted Rick Grimes (Lincoln) and his group of survivors against the Saviors and their cunning leader, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). History’s Vikings has brought on board New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard for the show’s sixth season. Syndergaard, who’s nickname is Thor, is a natural fit for the dramatic series, physically.
According to the network, Syndergaard made the trip to Ireland this week to shoot his season six guest starring role. History also revealed Syndergaard will be playing a character named Thorbjorn. Thorbjorn is described as a Viking warrior who is loyal to Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), who he sees as a God on earth.
The series will return for the second half of season five on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT. The sixth season will consist of 20 episodes which are expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
Season five part one averaged 11.2 million viewers and was in the top five of all cable dramas.
Oscar winner Michael Hirst (Elizabeth) created the series and writes each of the episodes. Hirst also serves as an executive producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan, James Flynn, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, and Arturo Interian.
Details on Vikings Season 5 Part 2:

The CW’s Supergirl‘s Mehcad Brooks was among the show’s cast members who made the trip to the San Diego Comic Con this summer. In addition to taking part in the series’ panel with fans, the cast participated in roundtable interviews in which they did their best to not give away any real spoilers for the show’s fourth season. Brooks came close to giving away what he described as a huge spoiler, but censored himself before he could provide any really juicy details about season four.
The new season of Supergirl arrives on Sunday, October 14, 2018.
How did you feel about Guardian’s identity being revealed and what’s going to happen with that moving forward?
Mehcad Brooks: “Good question. How I felt about it was amazing because it not only was dealing with unmasking, it was dealing with how people feel about the cultural dynamic of being African American. It’s almost like we got to put racism where it belongs in the cultural concept of bullying. It’s the same thing as a kid talking about this person’s weight. It’s the same thing as this kid talking about this person’s sexuality. It’s something that this person never chose and can’t help but just because it’s the status quo, we’re supposed to deal with it. It’s not right.
So, sexism and racism belong in the culture concept of bullying. So, I was really happy that we got to do that. And in fact, let’s be real about it, most black superheroes wear a mask. Can anybody name one black superhero that doesn’t wear a mask?”
Luke Cage.
Mehcad Brooks: “Luke Cage! We got one! Anybody else? No. I think that in the writers room that came to our attention as well. We’re like, ‘Wait a second. That’s not cool.’ We take these black actors and we throw a piece of iron over their face or some sort of technology over their face. That’s not really the point.
When I was growing up, I didn’t have anybody who looked like me to look up to. Now when I go to these Comic Cons or I go to the grocery story, I see a young black kid five or six years old and he’s like, ‘Mr. Olsen…?’ I’m like, ‘That’s not my name.’ (Laughing) No, just joking! So, I’m really happy that we’re actually tackling those issues. It’s gonna be real.”
Where would you like to see James go as a hero this season?
Mehcad Brooks: “Mars. I love Mars. (Laughing) Oh, you mean like… I know where he’s going and I like where he’s going. Let’s just say that because of the unmasking there’s some fallout that happens and some support – some unexpected support because he’s human and he’s doing something that normally aliens do. Or mutants – genetically enhanced humans do. So, he just happens to be this human being taking his life in his hands being brave and heroic, and some people appreciate that. And then some other people don’t. It becomes really cohesive to the culture of the what’s happening… What can I say?”
Can you say if his suit changes?
Mehcad Brooks: “I can’t say any of that. Sorry. They just briefed me and I just almost just told you a huge spoiler.”
You were talking about the heroes you looked up to growing up. Does a film like Black Panther make a difference?
Mehcad Brooks: “I think it does. It made a difference to me. I’m sure it makes a difference to a lot of kids around the world. It is a movie for kids, right? I think it definitely made a difference in that realm.
For me, it made a big difference in the fact we had a majority black cast lead a $16 billion film…I don’t know what it is. And I think that myth that we don’t sell overseas has been shattered, has been absolutely shattered. Whether or not the story focuses on Africans or African Americans, I don’t think it matters. I think people were saying that hue of human does not sell in Germany. That hue of human does not sell in China. They’re wrong. They’re absolutely wrong.
So, some of that is Hollywood manifesting itself into its result, right? If you don’t make the movie people can’t go see it. Like, I didn’t notice the people were black in the movie. I was like, ‘This is a good movie,’ and then I went, ‘Oh, yeah, they’re black.’ That happened after. You’re probably like, ‘This is a good movie.’ And then somebody was like, ‘You know they’re black, right?’ and you’re like, ‘I don’t care.’”
I didn’t notice until they brought the one white guy in.
Mehcad Brooks: (Laughing) “You’re like, ‘There’s normally more of them!’ Here’s my thing with that. I don’t think there should be any tokens. Look around this room. There’s every shade of every person here. I don’t have one white friend; I don’t have one Asian friend. I have a bunch of different types of friends. I grew up in a place where it was very multi-cultural. This country was built on multiple diasporans. We don’t have… I love Friends the sitcom but they’re not friends of mine because they don’t have any black persons.
What I’m saying is, yes, we can make movies that are all African American if we want to. We can make movies all white if we want to. But why not just make the sh*t look like America? Make it look like the demographics that we actually have right here and that are coming. I think that if we as a town don’t do that then we’re missing out on a great opportunity.”
When the CW’s The Flash returns for its fifth season, Tom Cavanagh will once again be embracing a new version of Harrison Wells. Season five will find Cavanagh portraying a Wells who’s reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes, but with a The Flash twist.
During our interview at the San Diego Comic Con, Tom Cavanagh discussed taking on different versions of Wells and directing the show’s upcoming 100th episode.

What can you say about the character you’ll be playing in season five?
Tom Cavanagh: “Characters. I can tell you about one which we’re debuting shortly. As you know, one of the things we try and do when creating a new character is see what gaps we might be missing and what we can fill. I was Reverse Flash in the first season and we weren’t going to do that in the second season, but I thought, ‘You know what? He was like a giant antagonist in season one. It might be nice to have a daily antagonist.’ Enter Harry who was like a bit of a jerk. Social graces, didn’t have them. Kind of mean but ultimately a good guy. Helpful. And then the next season we thought, ‘You know what? We can amp up the comedy a little bit,’ and I was H.R. who Harry hated because he thought he was an idiot. H.R. thought Harry was the best thing ever.
And then this year we thought, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a combination, but I think there’s room for that comedic element as well as room for the intelligence that Harry has. One thing you could rely on was Harry – you could trust him. He didn’t care what anybody thought. He was just going to do what was right.
So, if you had a guy that could be that with that level of intelligence and maybe not do always what’s right or not always be trusted all the time. So, it’s a Sherlock Wells character but we’re trying to put that trope or myth, whatever you want to call it, sort of on its ear a little bit. So, it’ll be called Sherlock Wells. I don’t want to get ahead of myself because maybe you’ll see it and judge it and go, ‘Oh, that’s terrible,’ but I’m looking forward to doing it.”
Is it difficult playing so many different versions of the character?
Tom Cavanagh: “No. It would be obnoxious to go (indicating exasperation and annoyance), ‘Oh, I just have to keep them separate.’ No. If you’re fortunate enough to be on a long-running show which The Flash is, generally you’re going to be assigned a character. What’s nice about being on a show that’s part of this superhero genre is there are kind of no rules. We have a multiverse; we created that idea of a multiverse that allows us free rein and for me in particular to get to do character after character after character.
The show is the same, the guys all have the same name, but the character reinvention or invention is something that I, being in this business for almost 30 years, is something that I’ve never had. I’ve never seen anything like that. For myself to be able to check that box is spectacular. It’s a real privilege.”
Are we going to see you directing this season?
Tom Cavanagh: “Yeah. I’m going to direct the 100th episode.”
How nice. Congrats.
Tom Cavanagh: (Laughing) “Say that after you see it. But I’m very much looking forward to it. My overall rule when directing the show is like basically they’re all so incredible, they’re such good humans and they’re so incredibly talented, essentially it’s like try not to mess it up. Point the camera at them and get out of the way. So, I’m looking forward to that.”
