Kitty Song Covey is signing up for another semester at KISS. Netflix officially renewed XO, Kitty for a third season, with series star Anna Cathcart helping break the news in a short Valentine’s Day video. Season two arrived in January 2025. The streamer hasn’t announced when fans can expect the third season to premiere.

“I’m so excited to head back to Seoul for another season with our incredible cast and crew. If you thought junior year at KISS brought the drama…just wait,” said showrunner, executive producer, and writer Jessica O’Toole. “I know we left fans on a cliffhanger at the end of Season 2 but I can promise season 3 will be worth the wait, including our first summer episode — not to mention plenty of romance, friendship, adventure…and kissing. Lots of kissing.”

In addition to Anna Cathcart, season two stars Minyeong Choi as Dae, Gia Kim as Yuri, Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho, Anthony Keyvan as Q, Regan Aliyah as Juliana, Peter Thurnwald as Alex, and Philippe Lee as Mr. Moon. Audrey Huynh plays Stella, Jocelyn Shelfo is Madison, Michael K. Lee is Professor Lee, Sasha Bhasin is Praveena, and Joshua Lee is Jin.

The series is a spinoff of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before films, based on Jenny Han’s bestselling books. Han created the XO, Kitty series and serves as an executive producer along with Matt Kaplan. The show’s second season snagged the #2 spot on Netflix’s top English TV list when it debuted, raking in 14.2 million views.

“Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey is back in Seoul for a new semester at KISS. She’s single for the first time in a long time, and ready for a fresh start: no more meddling, no more drama,” reads Netflix’s season two synopsis. “Maybe just some casual dating. Emphasis on casual. But she has more to worry about than her love life, as a letter from her mother’s past sets her on a wild journey, and new faces at KISS bring change. As secrets unravel and bonds are tested, Kitty will learn that life, family, and love are more complicated than she ever imagined.”

‘The Gorge’ Review: Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy Find Love and Fight Monsters

The Gorge Review
Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy in ‘The Gorge’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

Apple TV+’s The Gorge is a wildly entertaining mash-up of genres that somehow works beautifully … for the most part. (More on that later.) At its heart, it’s a love story that’s driven by action, with splashes of sci-fi, sharp comedy, and even a touch of political drama stirred in for good measure. What truly makes it shine, though, are the engaging performances from Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) and Miles Teller (The Offer), who add personality and depth to every scene.

The setup is fairly simple. Two snipers man towers on opposite sides of a deep gorge. One’s an ex-Marine who writes poetry and has 113 confirmed sniper kills. The other is a Lithuanian sniper with incredible patience and a record that rivals her counterpart. Both are single, share remarkable accuracy with their weapons, and are haunted by the people they have killed and the widows and orphans left in their wake.

Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Joy) are recruited by their respective governments for one-year stints manning the towers. They receive minimal information about their assignments and are dropped on opposite sides of the mysterious gorge without knowing their exact locations. There are gardens for veggies and game to hunt for meat. Their days will be spent checking gun turrets set up every 600 meters on the edge of the gorge. Dangling mines also require maintenance checks, and there are special “cloakers” that block the gorge from being seen by satellites.

Their sole task is to keep what’s in the gorge from getting out. Why? Because if the “Hollow Men” who reside in the gorge escape, they could potentially wipe out the human population. The gorge watch has been in existence for decades and operates under strict secrecy. The West Tower and East Tower snipers don’t know each other and are forbidden from communicating. Of course, since romance is a key element of The Gorge, both parties will disobey that order.

It’s Drasa who makes the first move months into their solitary confinement. They engage in flirtatious written exchanges, toast to Drasa’s birthday, and even compare their longest kill shots. You know, as we all do when starting a romantic relationship. The sweet messages ultimately lead to Levi taking a logic-defying leap forward in their budding romance-a leap that could lead to the end of the world.

The gorge’s residents are suitably creepy, and their origin story, while incredibly bizarre, is believable enough. The effects are top-notch, and Teller and Taylor-Joy convincingly portray assassins who find a love connection in the most extreme circumstances imaginable.

It’s not until Drasa and Levi connect through their long-distance messages that The Gorge fully finds its footing and comes to life. Taylor-Joy and Teller have real chemistry as two lonely souls who form a partnership of equals. Their relationship is not only convincing but also genuinely entertaining to watch develop.

An assumption established in the initial setup is turned on its head in the film’s third act. Zach Dean’s script takes the story in a dramatically different direction than anticipated. But the shocking twist is revealed almost too late. It feels worthy of much more in-depth attention than it gets, which is why I added the “for the most part” caveat in the opening paragraph.

The Gorge may stumble with its twist, but the energetic performances from Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy more than make up for it.

GRADE: B

MPA Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, brief strong language, some suggestive material and thematic elements
Release Date: February 14, 2025 on Apple TV+
Running Time: 2 hours 7 minutes
Directed By: Scott Derrickson (The Black Phone)

Miranda July’s Bestseller ‘All Fours’ Acquired by Starz

All Fours
‘All Fours’ by Miranda July

Miranda July’s bestselling novel All Fours is being adapted into a series at Starz. Published in May 2024, July’s novel has spent 38 weeks on the Indie Bestseller List and was a National Book Award Finalist. It also made the New York Times‘ 2024 Top Ten Books of the Year list.

“A semifamous artist announces her plan to drive cross-country, from LA to New York,” reads the All Fours synopsis on Miranda July’s website. “Thirty minutes after leaving her husband and child at home, she spontaneously exits the freeway, beds down in a nondescript motel, and immerses herself in a temporary reinvention that turns out to be the start of an entirely different journey.”

Starz didn’t provide any details on when the series is likely to begin casting.

“I’m thrilled that All Fours has found a home at Starz,” stated author Miranda July. “I had an electric feeling from the moment we met; it was clear we were speaking the same language. Rather than shying away from all the messy contradictions within sexuality and desire, Starz really digs into the reality of who women are and what we want, which makes it the perfect place to bring my novel to life. This is going to be wild.”

Commenting on the acquisition, Starz’s President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby said, “We are honored that Miranda has entrusted us with the adaptation of her magnificent novel All Fours. As we continue to expand our boundary-pushing programming for adults, we’re excited to work with Miranda on this extraordinary story that resonates with women around the world.”
