Netflix has given the incredibly popular romantic drama Virgin River an early season six renewal ahead of its season five premiere. The fifth season is expected to premiere this fall; however, Netflix hasn’t announced an official target date.

Based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling book series, Virgin River stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe, Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan, Colin Lawrence as John “Preacher” Middleton, and Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts. Annette O’Toole plays Hope McCrea, Tim Matheson is Doc Mullins, Benjamin Hollingsworth is Dan Brady, and Grayson Gurnsey is Ricky. Sarah Dugdale stars as Lizzie, Zibby Allen is Brie Sheridan, and Marco Grazzini plays Mike Valenzuela.

Season one premiered in December 2019 with season two arriving in November 2020. Season three debuted in July 2021, and in September 2021 Netflix announced the series had been renewed for seasons four and five. The first three seasons had 10 episodes while season four, premiering in July 2022, had an increased episode count of 12.

Netflix confirmed Virgin River would return for its sixth season during their May 17, 2023 Upfront presentation. The streaming service also announced Ginny & Georgia has been renewed for seasons three and four during their panel.

Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey lead the cast in the titular roles. Season two of the twisted coming-of-age drama also starred Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Chelsea Clark, and Katie Douglas.

Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia’s past is that it never stays buried for long…”
