Sleeping With Other People Red Band Trailer
Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis star in ‘Sleeping with Other People’

IFC Films has released a restricted trailer for the R-rated romantic comedy Sleeping With Other People starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie. The romcom comes from writer/director Leslye Headland (Bachelorette) and features Adam Scott, Jason Mantzoukas, Katherine Waterson, Adam Brody, Amanda Peet, Marc Blucas, and Andrea Savage. Sleeping With Other People opens in theaters on September 11, 2015.

The Plot:

Can two serial cheaters get a second chance at love? After a one-night stand in college, New Yorkers Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) meet by chance twelve years later and discover they each have the same problem: because of their monogamy-challenged ways, neither can maintain a relationship. Determined to stay friends despite their mutual attraction, they make a pact to keep it platonic, a deal that proves easier said than done.

Jane Fonda to be Honored by the Santa Barbara Film Festival

Jane Fonda Earns an Excellence in Film Award

Two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda will receive this year’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Announcing the award, Kirk Douglas said, “Jane Fonda obviously has the right genes.  Her acting performances set a standard that’s hard to follow.”

The award will be presented on October 3, 2015 during the gala dinner.

The Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film is given to a “lifelong contributor to cinema through their work in front of the camera, behind, or both.” 2015 will mark the 10th year the Excellence in Film award has been given out. Previous recipients include Jessica Lange, Forest Whitaker, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, Ed Harris, and John Travolta.

Fonda received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2014 and has won an Emmy and three Golden Globes. She currently stars in the original Netflix series Grace and Frankie along with Lily Tomlin. Fonda recently wrapped up work on Youth for writer/director Paolo Sorrentino. Youth will arrive in theaters on December 4, 2015.

The 2016 Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run February 3rd through February 13.

Britney Spears to Guest Star on ‘Jane the Virgin’

Britney Spears will be guest starring as herself on an episode of The CW’s Jane the Virgin season two. Spears will be playing herself on the fifth episode of the award-winning comedy.

Announcing Spears’ upcoming involvement in the show, series creator Jennie Snyder Urman said, “We are so thrilled that Rogelio’s ‘nemesis’ — Britney Spears — has agreed to appear on Jane The Virgin in episode 205. Personally, after hearing about their long standing feud (from Rogelio’s point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’ side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney”

Spears was pursued by the producers after they discovered she’s a huge fan of the series. Taking to Twitter, Spears confirmed the casting to her fans:

George Lopez to Star in ‘Lopez’ for TV Land

George Lopez is returning to series TV with Lopez, a half-hour comedy he’s starring in and executive producing. Dave Krinsky and John Altschuler are also executive producing the series and are on board as writers. Lopez‘ 12 episode season one will be debuting in 2016.

“We are excited to produce a series around iconic comedian George Lopez that reveals him in a hilarious yet brutally honest way” said Keith Cox, TV Land Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming. “George is constantly reinventing himself and as TV Land continues its evolution, we can’t wait to tell his story from a fresh, innovative perspective.”

“I’m excited that TV Land realizes that my personal challenges, insecurities and inability to connect are all part of my charm,” added Lopez.

The Plot: “The comedy, revolving around America’s most successful Hispanic American comedian, explores how George struggles between his two worlds and crises – often of his own making. Too rich to go back to his working class, Latino roots, and too ‘brown’ to feel comfortable in his affluent celebrity life, being George Lopez comes with many problems.”

The CW’s showing off this first look at Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick on The Flash. The image pays “special homage” to the “Flash of Two Worlds” comic book cover and features the DC Comics character in action.

Per DC Comics: “In the comics, Garrick was the very first Flash, and is known for his winged silver helmet, which was glimpsed briefly in the Season 1 finale. On The Flash TV show, Jay is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”

When Sears (Masters of Sex, 666 Park Avenue) was originally announced as joining the cast, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas. It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”

Season two of The Flash premieres on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT.

Matt Ryan as Constantine is Headed to ‘Arrow’

We haven’t seen the last of Matt Ryan as Constantine. Although the series wasn’t picked up for a second season, Ryan’s not quite finished playing the DC Comics character John Constantine.

The CW announced during the TCA press tour that Ryan will return as Constantine for episode five of Arrow season four titled “Haunted.”

“We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series,” said executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

The Plot: “John Constantine is a weather-worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult. He is a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons, and will provide critical support to Oliver (Stephen Amell) when arrows aren’t enough.”

Taking to Twitter, Ryan also confirmed the news, saying, “The rumors are true. John is coming to Star City.”




‘Ray Donovan’ and ‘Masters of Sex’ Get Fourth Season Orders

Masters of Sex, Ray Donovan Renewed for Season 4

Season three of both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex are both currently airing on Showtime and today the network’s president, David Nevins, announced they’ll both be back for fourth seasons. Season four of both shows will be made up of 12 new episodes, with filming expected to take place in 2016.

“Both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex are signature series for Showtime,” stated Nevins, announcing the renewals. “They are emblematic of what Showtime stands for – quality, premium programming that you cannot find anywhere else on television. We’re so proud to continue offering both series across all our platforms.”

Ray Donovan is airing on Sunday nights at 9pm ET/PT followed by Masters of Sex at 10pm ET/PT. The cast of Ray Donovan is led by Liev Schreiber and includes Jon Voight, Ian McShane, Katie Holmes, Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, and Steven Bauer. Masters of Sex stars Lizzy Caplan and Michael Sheen and co-stars Caitlin FitzGerald and Annaleigh Ashford.

Ray Donovan – The Plot:

Ray Donovan stars Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Liev Schreiber as LA’s best professional fixer, the man called in to make the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls’ most complicated and combustible situations go away. Season three finds Ray adrift from his family and those closest to him, while he focuses on his business and desires to be his own boss. Meanwhile, his father Mickey (Jon Voight), who had narrowly escaped last season’s heist debacle, finds himself charting a similar course to build his own empire.

The Masters of Sex Plot:

Season three of Masters of Sexis set in 1966 when the famed duo Masters and Johnson are dealing with the glare of the national spotlight as their sex study is finally unveiled. Masters and Johnson’s work is having a profound impact on contemporary relationships, especially their own evolving three-way “marriage” with Masters’ wife Libby (Caitlin FitzGerald). Starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Michael Sheen and Emmy nominee Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, Masters of Sex chronicles their unusual lives, romance and pop-culture trajectory. Masters and Johnson’s research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine.

Jennifer Nettles, Gerald McRaney, and Ricky Schroder have signed on to the cast of Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, set up at NBC and based on Dolly Parton’s family. Nettles has come on board to play Dolly Parton’s mother. McRaney will portray Grandpa Jake Owens and Schroder was cast as Dolly’s father, Lee Parton.

The original movie also features Alyvia Lind as Dolly Parton at age nine. Pamela K. Long wrote the script and executive produces along with Dolly Parton and Sam Haskell.

According to NBC, the movie is “based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today.

The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor musical about Dolly’s whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family’s life around the time she was 9 years old.”

‘The Last Ship’ Will Return for Season Three

TNT has given the action drama The Last Ship a third season order. The network announced the show’s renewal while there are still a few original episodes remaining to air in season two. Season three will consist of 13 new one-hour episodes and is expected to air during the 2016 summer.

According to TNT, The Last Ship‘s currently the #1 scripted series on basic cable among adults 25-54. The series is based on William Brinkley’s novel and stars Eric Dane, Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, Travis Van Winkle, Jocko Sims, Charles Parnell, Christina Elmore, Marissa Neitling, and John Pyper Ferguson. Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane co-created the series and serve as showrunners as well as executive producers. Jack Bender, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form also executive produce The Last Ship.

The Plot:

The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy, forcing Captain Chandler (Dane), XO Slattery (Baldwin) and the ship’s crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the few remaining survivors.

In the second season of The Last Ship, the crew of the Nathan James has begun disseminating the cure developed by paleomicrobiologist Dr. Rachel Scott (Mitra). Their arrival back on U.S. soil, however, has been met with opposition in the form of a new world order under the leadership of Amy Granderson (guest star Alfre Woodward). To make matters worse, Chandler and his crew now face a new enemy: the Immunes, a group of naturally immune survivors bent on taking over the world.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost DImension Poster

Paramount Pictures just unveiled an official poster for the final film of the Paranormal Activity franchise, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. The final Paranormal Activity film will open in theaters on October 23, 2015 and explores the childhoods of Kristi and Katie and how it connects to contemporary times and the discovery of old VHS tapes.

Directed by first time feature film helmer Gregory Plotkin, the cast includes Olivia Taylor Dudley, Chloe Csengery, Aiden Lovekamp, Jessica Tyler Brown, and Chris J. Murray.
