Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Michael Kenneth Williams and Jessica Lange star in the dramatic thriller The Gambler from director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Paramount Pictures has just released an official trailer for the remake of the 1974 film of the same name starring James Caan and Paul Sorvino, with Mark Wahlberg seen dividing his time between teaching and gambling.

The Gambler will open in theaters on December 19, 2014.

The Plot:

Jim Bennett (Wahlberg) is a risk taker. Both an English professor and a high-stakes gambler, Bennett bets it all when he borrows from a gangster (Williams) and offers his own life as collateral. Always one step ahead, Bennett pits his creditor against the operator of a gambling ring (Alvin Ing) and leaves his dysfunctional relationship with his wealthy mother (Lange) in his wake. He plays both sides, immersing himself in an illicit, underground world while garnering the attention of Frank (Goodman), a loan shark with a paternal interest in Bennett’s future. As his relationship with a student (Larson) deepens, Bennett must take the ultimate risk for a second chance…

The First Real Sneak Peek Arrives for ‘Agent Carter’

Marvel's Agent Carter Sneak Peek Scene

Marvel’s Agent Carter won’t be added to ABC’s lineup until January 2015, however Marvel’s just unveiled a two minute clip from the series so comic book fans will know what to expect. The new clip shows Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) asking Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) for help. He even introduces her to his butler, Jarvis (James D’Arcy), who will be offering her his assistance – but not after 9pm.

The cast of the series also includes Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa, and Shea Whigham as Chief Roger Dooley.

And for those who missed it, here’s the official synopsis for Marvel’s Agent Carter:

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter, who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy – the only person he can trust – to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis, to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

Royal Pains kicked off this past season when Hank (Feuerstein) returned from his world travels with Boris (guest star Campbell Scott) to find that his HankMed family had moved on without him. Hank forged ahead to fit into this new normal, but everything changed when Emma (guest star Willa Fitzgerald) showed up in the Hamptons claiming to be Hank and Evan’s (Costanzo) half-sister. Upon discovering the claim was true, the brothers invited her to stay to strengthen a familial bond, but the reunion was made more difficult when Emma’s desire to fit in led to a number of mishaps.

Elsewhere, Evan and Paige (D’Orsay) both dealt with new obstacles in couple’s therapy but rediscovered their love for each other. Divya (Shetty) struggled to balance motherhood with her job but found herself at odds with Jeremiah (Shenkman), who was furious with her for meddling in a developing relationship. Later, Hank rekindled his relationship with Charlotte (guest star Gillian Alexy), an adventurous blind woman he met during his travels with Boris.

In the season finale, after Boris purchased Hamptons Heritage Hospital, Hank reluctantly accepted the offer to join the board of directors, along with the rest of HankMed. Divya, in the midst of her battle for custody for her daughter, found comfort in the surprise return of Raj (guest star Rupak Ginn), and Emma and Eddie (guest star Henry Winkler) embarked on his book tour together, bringing their family closer than ever.

Rounding out the hectic Mejia household is Gerado’s mom, Mama Mejia.

After living out his own rock-n-roll dreams, “Rico Suave” went to work behind the scenes, becoming one of Interscope Records’ most valuable A&R executives and credited with bringing fellow Latin singer Enrique Iglesias and others into the mainstream.
