‘The Curse of Oak Island’ Season 12 Announces a November Premiere

The History Channel’s set a November 12, 2024 premiere date for The Curse of Oak Island season 12. Will the new season bring the Fellowship of the Dig any closer to discovering actual treasure? Is the Money Pit just a big tease? The new season’s promo reveals that the team is zeroing in on shaft two which is supposedly just 14′ from the true money pit. The one-minute video also shows the Fellowship encountering a void where there shouldn’t be one, and bringing up a piece of silver treasure.

“This story is a testament to the power of faith and hope shaft,” says one of the Lagina brothers. And Rick Lagina reminds the team they can only do this if they work together.

New season 12 episodes will air on Tuesdays at 9pm ET/PT.

“In the epic 12th season of The History Channel’s hit series The Curse of Oak Island, Michigan-born brothers Rick and Marty Lagina are back, alongside their talented team, and closer than ever to solving the 229-year-old treasure mystery. Using cutting-edge technology, the team pinpoints evidence of a large source of precious metals deep within the Money Pit area and executes a core-drilling operation to zero in on the legendary valuables already discovered during large-scale excavations,” reads the official synopsis.

“Additionally, new discoveries will shed light on the treasure mystery and new secrets will be revealed, corroborating the team’s suspicion that Oak Island has been visited numerous times by medieval European cultures and may contain multiple treasures. Could it be that we’re close to solving one of the greatest treasure mysteries of all time?”

The History Channel is also introducing a spin-off series Tales From Oak Island on November 19th at 10pm ET/PT. The new entry in the Oak Island story will look at different theories about the island as well as figures connected to its past.

The History Channel released this synopsis:

“Offering new information and key flashbacks, the series dives deeper than ever before into the incredible people, fascinating theories, and critical discoveries made by the many searchers who have devoted their lives to unlocking the locale’s many secrets and treasures. What could be hidden in the vault deep under Oak Island? Priceless religious relics connected to the Knights Templar? A stolen haul of silver from a sunken Spanish galleon? The spoils from a colonial-era military victory in the Caribbean? Could they all be connected to the same mysterious group of medieval conspirators?

Mysteries will be explored, and secrets will be revealed by those who have studied, explored, and lived through one of the longest-running treasure hunts known to man.”

‘Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’ – The Hunt for Treasure Goes Deeper in Season 4

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch Season 4
Chad Ollinger and Eric Drummond enter the cave in ‘Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’ season 4

Season four of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch promises the Ollingers will be digging even deeper in their search for lost Aztec gold. Although some believe it’s cursed, the Ollingers remain determined to do whatever it takes to locate what’s thought to be a fortune in buried treasure.

The new season premieres on November 20, 2024, with new episodes airing on Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT.

“The all-new season of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch opens a new chapter in the team’s fervent search for lost gold as they make groundbreaking new discoveries, uncover unexpected artifacts, and piece together what may be a new pathway of history,” reads Discovery Channel’s synopsis. “For more than a decade, Duane and Chad have invested their all into locating a 500-year-old lost Aztec treasure they believe is hidden in a vast system of underground caves buried deep within their ranch. After discovering a mysterious keyhole-shaped cavern that could be the link to the fortune, they are pushing the limits to find a viable way in. But the more they push, the more the land fights back as dangerous cave-ins and mysterious phenomena – puzzling seismic activity, unusual weather patterns and even strange wildlife – hinder their progress.

Calling in help from treasure-hunting specialists, the team launches a new plan to excavate multiple sites simultaneously and they quickly uncover ancient ceremonial beads and artifacts that seem to indicate a sacrificial site. Lab testing reveals there is a much deeper history to the area than they previously thought, opening up new possibilities – including one that Blind Frog Ranch could potentially be the birthplace of the original Aztec civilization. Meanwhile, LiDAR scans reveal a fault line that connects several locations on the ranch and beyond and could be another way into the cave system. But when the team discovers an underwater cavern, they may have finally hit paydirt – but will this mysterious land be ready to give up its long-hidden secrets?”

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Review

Venom: The Last Dance
Tom Hardy in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ (Photo © 2024 CTMG, Inc)

Back in 2018, Tom Hardy starred in Sony and Marvel’s fairly forgettable film Venom. Hardy portrayed Eddie Brock, the struggling television reporter whose body becomes inhabited by an alien known as a Symbiote, self-identifying as Venom. Now with Hardy both co-writing the script and executive producing, the third and final film of the comic book anti-hero series, Venom: The Last Dance, arrives in theaters on October 25, 2024.

This final film of the trilogy opens in another universe with a dark, mysterious character called Knull telling the story of how he was betrayed by his symbiote children and imprisoned. Considered to be the “God of the Void,” Knull sends these giant creatures called Xenophages, which look like a cross between spiders and praying mantises, in search of a key called the Codex that can set him free.

Back on Earth, Eddie and Venom hide out in Mexico after defeating Carnage in Venon: Let There Be Carnage. Eddie sees a news report that the authorities want him for questioning in the death of Detective Patrick Mulligan (Stephen Graham). On the run as fugitives, Eddie and his symbiote buddy head out to New York, hoping to clear his name. The two are hitching a ride on (not in) a commercial plane when they’re attacked by one of the Xenophages and crash land in the Nevada desert.

”Eddie, my home has found us!” says Venom to his traveling partner, who is still shaking off almost plummeting to his death. “Who sent that thing after us?” asks Eddie. “My creator, Knull. We have something he wants,” replies the black symbiote who, for the first time ever, seems worried.

To make matters even more complicated, both Special Forces and a team of scientists are also hunting Eddie in hopes of capturing and separating him from Venom for “security reasons.”

Venom: The Last Dance is a silly, occasionally funny, and cluttered comic book-inspired film that closes this chapter of the Marvel anti-hero who was never really given any depth or dimension. The send-off of this character is a mish-mash, with Tom Hardy’s performance being the only saving grace for it to be somewhat entertaining.

Hardy’s portrayal of both Eddie Brock, the struggling reporter whose life became a thousand more ties complicated (and better) because of the alien inside him, and Venom, the symbiote who with Eddie’s guidance can be a crime-fighting, world-saving entity, is hands down the best part of all the films – including this one. The best scenes are with Hardy as both Eddie and Venom arguing or even just talking to each other before taking on the bad guys. It’s the weirdest and goofiest “bromance” on film, but it does get laughs.

The CGI action scenes look and feel like a video game and are clumsy, scattered, and unimpressive. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Juno Temple, as part of the supporting cast, play one-dimensional, uninteresting, and unoriginal characters, wasting their talents.

Rhys Ifans stands out as Martin, a quirky family man and UFO nut who gives Eddie a ride on their way to Area 51. Ifans’ is the only other entertaining performance in this third installment of the franchise.

With its lackluster action scenes and an incredibly weak plot, let’s hope that Venom: The Last Dance is indeed the last installment of the Venom stand-alone films.

GRADE: C

MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, bloody images and strong language
Release Date: October 25, 2024
