Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) and produced by Michael Bay, this new TMNT movie will be heading to theaters on August 8, 2014.
The Plot:
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Frank Miller’s graphic novel Ronin and Jonathan Hickman’s comic book series Pax Romana will both transition to the small screen as miniseries. Syfy confirmed they’re developing both properties, however the network has not set an expected premiere date for either series.
Hickman’s on board as a co-executive producer on Pax Romana, with Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (Warehouse 13) adapting the comic book series.
The Pax Romana plot: “Pax Romana is about a Special Forces team that travels back in time on the eve of World War III to ‘fix’ the future by altering the past. Their destination: Ancient Rome. Roman legions battle modern day attack helicopters, tanks and soldiers, while thought-provoking themes are explored as the leaders of the expedition fight over their vision for civilization.”
The Ronin plot: “In Ronin, published by DC Entertainment, eight centuries after a Japanese Ronin samurai failed to protect his master from a demon, he awakens in a futuristic, nihilistic New York in the body of Billy, a medical experiment. Now Billy/Ronin is chasing the demon, which has reawakened. Both parties want control of a sword with magical properties and will stop at nothing to get it back.”

Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott will be competing against each other once again on the second season of HGTV’s Brother vs. Brother kicking off on June 8, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. The twins will be battling it out as they mentor a team of home improvement experts competing to see which contestant will win the $50,000 grand prize.
Drew won season one, but Jonathan’s hoping he’ll emerge victorious in season two.
“Viewers love the Property Brothers and their good-natured rivalry,” said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV and DIY Network. “Since Drew won the Brother vs. Brother battle last season, the stakes are even higher now. It will be great fun to see what lengths the guys will go to in order to win this competition.”
The Details:
During the six-episode series, premiering Sunday, June 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the guys again go head-to-head, each mentoring a team of five talented home improvement experts as they renovate, remodel and decorate outdated homes to increase property value. Each week, four of HGTV’s top real estate experts, Hilary Farr and David Visentin (Love It or List It) and Tarek and Christina El Moussa (Flip or Flop), will critique the teams’ completed upgrades and determine which contestant ultimately will take home the $50,000 grand prize. With Drew as the reigning champion, Jonathan is ready to settle the score and claim Brother vs. Brother bragging rights.
This season’s match will feature fiercer challenges, more surprises and the most daring teams of home renovators yet. In each episode, Jonathan’s skills as a licensed contractor and Drew’s real estate agent expertise will be put to the test as they coach their teams. The goal: raise market value of your property and avoid elimination. Each week, the losing coach must send his weakest link home until only one designer remains.
To heat things up, Jonathan and Drew assemble their teams based on the contenders’ skillset and expertise. Team Jonathan features competitors who have extensive backgrounds in architecture, real estate and design. His team includes: Joe Schwarz, Tempe, Ariz.; Rick Schwarz, Phoenix, Ariz.; Adi Shuruk, San Diego, Calif.; Stayce Smith, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Peggy Tart, St. Louis, Mo. Team Drew showcases competitors who are experts in construction, décor and house flipping. His team includes: Thomas Brown, Austin, Texas; Drea Clark, Houston, Texas; Eric Eremita, Staten Island, N.Y.; Jennifer “Six” Hawn, Chicago, Ill.; and Melissa Roche, Las Vegas, Nev.
In addition, this season Drew and Jonathan’s older brother JD Scott will get in on the action to give fans behind-the-scenes access and share his special inside knowledge about his famous younger brothers. In videos available exclusively each week on HGTV.com, JD will interview Jonathan, Drew and the contestants to offer online users a glimpse at what happens when the cameras stop rolling.

The CW’s sci-fi series The 100 offers up a seventh episode titled “Contents Under Pressure” airing tonight at 9pm ET/PT. Thus far, The 100‘s first season has demonstrated the writers/producers aren’t afraid to push boundaries and kill off characters, and hopefully the series will continue to stick with the darker tone throughout the remainder of the episodes.

Don’t even try and act like you’re surprised. Did you really think they’d stop at two Sharknado movies?
Syfy’s just announced Sharknado 3 will premiere next summer, however, Syfy and production company The Asylum are keeping the name of the city that will be attacked by flying sharks a secret. The network would only confirm that there is a third film in the works and that, yes, flying sharks will be falling from the sky to eat more innocent people.
In case you forgot, the original Sharknado found the toothy denizens of the deep attacking the citizens of LA. Sharknado 2: The Second One, starring Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Kari Wuhrer, and Judah Friedlander, has the sharks heading to New York City.
Sharknado 2: The Second One arrives on Syfy on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. The plot is the same as the first film, except with NYC substituting for LA.
The Details:
In Sharknado 2, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple.
Easily one of the most anticipated films of 2014, Godzilla will be roaring into theaters on May 14th with hopes high that it will in no way resemble the most recent Hollywood take on the classic creature. Director Gareth Edwards is a self-proclaimed Godzilla geek (at the 2014 CinemaCon, he called himself the second biggest Godzilla fan on the planet, with the #1 spot held by the film’s producer Thomas Tull), and he made sure the new addition to the long line of Godzilla films is worthy of its predecessors.
Edwards was on hand at the 2014 WonderCon to talk about the upcoming release of the Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures film that has moviegoers who haven’t been into gigantic creature features looking forward to checking out his vision for this new Godzilla movie.
Gareth Edwards Interview
Can you talk about the pressure of directing a new Godzilla film and how did you decide on the scale of this Godzilla?
Gareth Edwards: “As much pressure as I guess you get put on by the studio and especially the fans to do the best that you can, probably both of them combined probably didn’t equal the pressure I put on myself. I’ve always wanted to make films; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you’ve got to do it right. I put myself under a lot of pressure and was trying not to paralyze myself with it, but you also have to ignore it. I felt like that became the solution was to block it out and just, in a weird way, be very selfish and just make a film I really wanted to see because you can’t really… I find you can’t approach filmmaking by doing things for other people. You’ve got to do what’s going to give you goosebumps when you sit in the cinema and watch something.
And then it was like we got into whole design of it. Talking about the height, our Godzilla is 350 foot, which is the tallest Godzilla, I think, that there’s been. There’s a reason for that which is we had a model of Godzilla, we had a model of the city, we animated him walking around doing his thing, and then we filmed him in the computer from a rooftop, from the ground, different sizes of Godzillas. Then we sat and watched all the footage and there was one where we were like, ‘Okay, that’s the perfect balance. He’s tall enough to be omnipresent and he’s small enough to be hidden so we can have fun.’ And that was 350 feet. I think the reason it was that was basically because of the height in modern cities. They kind of get taller, obviously, over generations and that’s why I think in the Godzilla films he always gets a bit taller with each incarnation.”
You’ve assembled a terrific cast. What was it like working with this ensemble?
Gareth Edwards: “It’s a bit of a problem because once people ask me about the cast, it’s like a 20 minute answer because you go through each one individually and say what’s so brilliant. It’s a very long answer. But, I was really lucky in that in my mind you can’t help but picture people when you’re working on the screenplay and you think, ‘They’re never going to do it because there’s an assumption about what a Godzilla movie is.’ I think there is this idea that some actors do something personal, then they do something commercial, then they do something personal, and what I would say to them is, ‘You’ve got to view this as your personal movie. Don’t think of it as commercial. This has got to be emotional and moving and all those things that you would put in any other film, and it just happens to have a giant monster in it.’
And so I think they were all excited about that idea and it was very easy to accomplish, because obviously when we’re filming there isn’t really a Godzilla there. He was in a play on Broadway and he wasn’t able to make it to the shoot and so we had to animate him in the end. But it was very easy for us to forget and think that we were doing a disaster movie. And then when we start layering in the Godzilla element, like in the computer when we start doing post-production, you’re suddenly like you’ve made this one bit work hopefully on its own and suddenly there’s this other layer that comes in that you just go, ‘Okay,’ and it elevates the film even more.”
Why didn’t you incorporate any of the existing monsters into this Godzilla?
Gareth Edwards: “We wanted to create our own creature, but I think there are probably legal issues involved for the other creatures that it probably wasn’t even on the table, in terms of an option. But I was most excited about, ‘Okay, we’ve got Godzilla – that’s defined – we sort of think we know who he is, and now we’ve got this infinite canvas and we can create something else.’ That was exciting as well. Like, what do we come up with that he would encounter and why would it be connected to him? I think you get one buy-in with the audience which is a giant monster and so if you’re going to create another, it has to be connected somehow. You don’t get two ‘get out of jail’ cards, I don’t think.”
Investigation Discovery reexamines the OJ Simpson trial 20 years after the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman with OJ: Trial of the Century airing on June 12, 2014 at 8pm. Every Hill Films produced the documentary on the murder trial that had a nation riveted to their televisions, and Nicole Rittenmeyer (9/11: The Days After, JFK: 3 Shots that Changed America, 102 Minutes that Changed America) served as executive producer.
“OJ represented a watershed moment for this country’s perception of the legal system and, indeed, a transformative event in the racial and social history of our nation,” stated Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, Destination America, and Discovery Fit & Health. “While twenty years later, many questions still linger, this powerful documentary turns back the clock to allow viewers to experience this unique trial’s intensity firsthand.”
The Details:
Whether you were pulled over in snarled traffic on a Los Angeles freeway or watching from home as regularly scheduled television programming was interrupted, people still vividly remember where they were during the police chase for OJ Simpson in the infamous, white Ford Bronco. More than 95 million watched. The OJ story dominated American dialogue and generated millions of dollars in revenue.
Careers were launched, shattered, and sometimes reborn. Yet when it was over, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were still dead, no one was punished and deep fault lines of bigotry and bias had been exposed in white and black America. For some, the OJ trial was a judicial catastrophe; for others, a long-sought, tide-turning victory. But beyond all the endless media coverage and polarizing debate, the trial made a nation take another look at justice, race, domestic violence and the power of wealth.
Presented under the ID FILMS banner, OJ: Trial of the Century follows the real-life soap opera that was the Simpson case as it played out like an episodic work of dramatic fiction. In a stylistic approach favored by executive producer Rittenmeyer, the documentary relies on contemporaneous archival material alone to illustrate the course of events. Without the interruption of modern interviews to provide hindsight, Rittenmeyer’s storytelling triggers the same raw emotion and real-time perspective as when the events transpired all those years ago.
By asking viewers to “re-live” the case as it played out at the time, ID introduces a new generation of viewers to the stranger-than-fiction narrative that captivated our collective national conscience.
And for the audience that lived it the first time, there are two decades’ worth of historical, legal and psychological ramifications to this story that continue to make it a cultural touchstone and reference point for countless criminal proceedings, news media commentary as well as even late-night TV comedy.
This is the story of how an event – the prosecution and then acquittal of a man accused of double homicide – became the first nationally televised soap opera of tangled and salacious plotlines that would beget countless others. Perhaps more significantly, it was also a flashpoint for debate, disagreement, and disillusionment and the ultimate allegory for tensions that continue to face American society today.
