TV Land has confirmed they’re bringing back the iconic reality TV show Candid Camera with Peter Funt (son of Allen Funt) on board as an executive producer and co-host. The hidden camera series, famous for its “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera!” tagline, made its television debut back in 1948 and aired for over 50 years.
“A remake of Candid Camera is the perfect addition to our portfolio of original series,” said Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land. “The show is full of joyful laughter that catches you off guard and leaves you in high spirits – exactly the outlook that our brand embodies.”
“We’ll be daring but respectful, funny yet insightful,” said Funt. “I can’t think of better partners to help pull this off than Electus and the team at TV Land.”
TV Land is planning a summer premiere of the rebooted series.

MTV’s hosting clips from upcoming movies in the lead up to this weekend’s MTV Movie Awards, and the latest clip to hit the web comes from the summer comedy, 22 Jump Street. The sequel to 21 Jump Street – obviously – reunites Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill but instead of going undercover at a high school, the duo sign up for college undercover duty.
The Plot of 22 Jump Street:
“After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.”
22 Jump Street opens in theaters on June 13, 2014.
Season five’s winner Tessanne Chin will be part of the tour as well season five’s Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin. Season one’s Dia Frampton will also be on the tour with this season’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Amazon Studios is moving forward on a new dramatic comedy pilot as well as a one-hour dramatic pilot, both of which will make their debuts in late 2014. The half-hour comedy/drama The Cosmopolitans will star Adam Brody, Chloë Sevigny, Carrie MacLemore and Dree Hemingway, and is written and directed by Whit Stillman. The dramatic series Hand of God features Ron Perlman, Dana Delany, Garret Dillahunt and Alona Tal and is executive produced by Marc Forster, Ben Watkins, Ron Perlman, Brian Wilkins and Jeff King.
The Cosmopolitans and Hand of God will be part of Amazon’s third pilot season on Prime Instant Video, and customers will be asked to vote/provide feedback on which of the pilots should turn into full series.
“We’re very pleased to be working with Whit, Ron, Ben, and Marc on developing these pilots,” said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios. “The Cosmopolitans and Hand of God both contain rich stories and deep characters that we think customers will really enjoy. I’m looking forward to seeing our customers’ reactions when they debut.”
Details on The Cosmopolitans
Written, directed and produced by Academy Award nominee Whit Stillman (Metropolitan, Barcelona, The Last Days of Disco), The Cosmopolitans follows a group of young American expatriates in Paris searching for love and friendship in a foreign city. The Cosmopolitans begins shooting this week in Paris.
Details on Hand of God
Marking the television debut of renowned filmmaker Marc Forster (Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland, World War Z) and written by Ben Watkins, Hand of God stars Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman in his first lead television role since Sons of Anarchy as “Judge Pernell Harris.” Hand of God also stars Dana Delany as the Judge’s protective wife “Crystal Harris,” Garret Dillahunt as “KD,” the born-again sociopath, whose violent tendencies are exploited by Pernell, Andre Royo as the slick, smart, gregarious, and greedy mayor “Robert ‘Bobo’ Boston,” Alona Tal as Pernell’s grieving daughter-in-law “Jocelyn Harris,” Julian Morris as the questionable preacher “Paul Dobson,” Elizabeth McLaughlin as the preacher’s sultry girlfriend “Alicia,” and Emayatzy Corinealdi as Pernell’s call girl / confidante “Tessie.” The show centers on the powerful Judge Harris, a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side, who suffers a mental breakdown, and goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart. With no real evidence to go on, Pernell begins to rely on “visions” and “messages” he believes are being sent by God through Pernell’s ventilator-bound son. Hand of God begins shooting this week in the Los Angeles and Long Beach areas.
Host Jimmy Fallon and actress Anne Hathaway during the "Broadway Rap" skit on April 8, 2014 (Photo by: Nathaniel Chadwick/NBC)What would rap songs sound like if they were performed on Broadway? The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon and Anne Hathaway answer that question by performing Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice,” 50 Cent’s “In Da Club,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” – all with a Broadway twist.
NBC is looking for new, fresh comedic voices as part of a just-launched grassroots program titled “NBC Comedy Playground.” The network’s enlisted Aziz Ansari, Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, Mindy Kaling, Jason Katims, Josh Lieb, Eva Longoria, Adam McKay, Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Craig Robinson, Maya Rudolph, Adam Scott, and others to make up an Advisory Board to help sort through the entries and select two winners. The writers chosen will create new shows for NBC that will air during the summer of 2015.
“We are taking a bold, alternative approach in what we hope will uncover original comedy minds who are looking for a way to get into the television business,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “We love that an incredible A-list roster of producers, writers and performers have jumped in to help us find that untapped talent.”
The Details, Courtesy of NBC:
Beginning May 1, aspiring comedy writers are asked to submit their ideas to be considered for both digital and network comedy shows. Entrants may submit up to two video samples (5-10 minutes each) of their pre-existing work, along with up to two video pitches (2-5 minutes per pitch), each describing a unique, original show idea, to www.nbccomedyplayground.com. The Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, are available at www.nbccomedyplayground.com.
Up to 10 finalists will be chosen by the NBC Selection Panel, and NBC will provide funding for each finalist to produce a full pilot presentation based on his/her original pitch. Two winners will be selected by the all-star comedy Advisory Board, in consultation with NBC. Each of the winners will have their show broadcast on NBC.
The remaining finalist presentations that aren’t selected will be posted to the “NBC Comedy Playground” website where the public will vote for their favorites – and the one receiving the most votes will then be developed as a digital show.
