Check Out Andre 3000 Playing Jimi Hendrix in a New Biopic

Andre 3000 of Outkast stars as the legendary musician Jimi Hendrix in the new dramatic biopic JIMI: All Is By My Side coming to theaters sometime this summer. Xlrator Media’s distributing the drama written and directed by John Ridley who just won an Oscar for his screenplay of 12 Years a Slave.

In addition to Andre, the cast includes Imogen Poots, Hayley Atwell, Andrew Buckley, and Ruth Negga.

The new clip has just been released along with photos from the film, which had its premiere at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. JIMI: All Is By My Side is also screening at the SXSW Film Festival on March 12, 2014.

All Is By My Side charts just over a year in a man’s life. The year he blossomed and became Jimi Hendrix. The year he spent as a young musician trying to make it on the streets and in the clubs of London, England. The lovers, friends, and musical collaborators, who helped him get there.

First Look: ‘Chef’ Starring Jon Favreau

Writer/director Jon Favreau’s Chef opened the 2014 SXSW on March 7th but for those of us who didn’t make it to Austin for the festival, Open Road’s released the first clip online. Jon Favreau also stars in the comedy alongside Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt, Emjay Anthony, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey, Jr.

Chef will open in theaters on May 9, 2014.

The Plot: Chef Carl Casper (Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Vergara), his friend (Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen — and zest for life and love.




’24: Live Another Day’ Debuts a New Teaser Trailer

There’s no going home for Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) who’s in London following the events of the series finale of 24 in the upcoming event series, 24: Live Another Day. Premiering on May 5, 2014, the cast of the new follow-up series also features Benjamin Bratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, William Devane, Tate Donovan, Kim Raver, and Mary Lynn Rajskub.

The Plot: Set and shot in London, the suspenseful event series once again will follow the exploits of heroic agent JACK BAUER (Sutherland). Four years ago, Jack was a fugitive from justice. Now an exile, he nevertheless is willing to risk his life and freedom to avert yet another global disaster. The harrowing day will have Jack attempting to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever.

Green also discusses the importance of the training process, her costumes, and why she was fortunate the scenes shot at sea were actually shot using green screen and not real water.

The Plot:

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Mia Wasikowska Makes Tracks in the Tracks Trailer

Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) stars alongside a dog and four camels in director John Curran’s adventure tale, Tracks, based on Robyn Davidson’s memoir Tracks: One Woman’s Journey Across 1,700 Miles of Australian Outback. The cast also includes Adam Driver, Emma Booth, and Jessica Tovey.
 
The Plot:
 
Director John Curran (We Don’t Live Here Anymore) and the producers of The Kings Speech bring you the film Tracks, which tells the remarkable true story of Robyn Davidson (Wasikowska), a young woman who leaves her life in the city to make a solo trek through almost 2,000 miles of sprawling Australian desert. Accompanied by only her dog and four unpredictable camels, she sets off on a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Along the way, she meets National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan (Driver) who begins to photograph her voyage.

Leslie Mann Gets Photobombed at the ‘Mr. Peabody and Sherman’ Premiere

Leslie Mann’s left arm was bent at just the right angle for the perfect photobomb by an animated character at the Los Angeles premiere of Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Mann, who voices the role of Patty Peterson in the animated comedy, hit the red carpet with her daughter Iris Apatow and our photographer snapped this photo at just the right time.

Fox Renews Three Comedies and One Thriller

Congratulations go to The Following, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project, and New Girl. Fox has renewed the three comedies and the one dramatic series for the 2014-2015 season. Of the shows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was a lock on getting renewed for a second season following its wins at the Golden Globes. The other three weren’t guaranteed renewals but have all had solid viewership numbers this season.
 
Brooklyn Nine-Nine was renewed for season two, The Following and The Mindy Project for season three, and New Girl for season four. The four shows will be part of the 2014-2015 primetime lineup which will also include already renewed series Sleepy Hollow, Glee, and Bones.
 
Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, and Joe Earley, Chief Operating Officer, Fox Broadcasting Company, announced the renewals. “These shows are some of the best and acclaimed series on television, with influential, culture-driving stars, and some of the best, most creative talent behind the camera. All four are core assets within our 2014-15 portfolio of content, and we’re really happy to bring them back to our FOX fans for another season.”
 
The first season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher will air on March 25, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/PT. The Mindy Project created by and starring Mindy Kaling will air a special one-hour spring premiere on Tuesday, April 1st at 9:00pm ET/PT and then moves to its regular timeslot on Tuesdays at 9:30pm. New Girl with Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson airs on Tuesdays at 9:00pm and The Following starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy airs on Mondays at 9:00pm.

First Look: Teaser Trailer for the New Last Week Tonight Series

He’ll cover breaking news, report on current events 24/7, be the first on the scene… No, actually John Oliver’s new HBO series will not be doing any of those things. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver will air once a week on Sunday nights at 11pm but the new trailer voice-over person is confused as to what the show’s all about and tries to sell it as a new CNN-type show.
 
The ex-Daily Show correspondent debuts his new half-hour series on April 27, 2014, putting his own twist on the news, politics and current events.

Nicolas Cage Makes Friends with a Snake in a New Clip from Joe

Nicolas Cage handles a deadly snake and eventually calls it his friend in this new clip from the dramatic movie, Joe, directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express). The film is based on Larry Brown’s novel (adapted for the screen by Gary Hawkins) and features Cage, Tye Sheridan, Gary Poulter, and Ronnie Gene Blevins.
 
Roadside Attractions will release Joe in theaters on April 11, 2014.
 
The Plot:
 
A gripping mix of friendship, violence and redemption erupts in the contemporary South in this adaptation of Larry Brown’s novel, celebrated at once for its grit and its deeply moving core. Joe brings Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage back to his indie roots in the title role as the hard-living, hot-tempered, ex-con Joe Ransom, who is just trying to dodge his instincts for trouble – until he meets a hard-luck kid, (Sheridan) who awakens in him a fierce and tender-hearted protector.

Introducing ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ New Characters

Starz’s mesmerizing, critically acclaimed series Da Vinci’s Demons returns for season two on March 22, 2014 with an interesting array of new characters adding to the show’s intrigue and ever-expanding world. Among the new figures fans of the show will be introduced to this season are Carolina Guerra as Ima, Kieran Bew playing Duke Alfonso, Matthew Marsh playing King Ferrante, and Lee Boardman as Amerigo Vespucci.

And in support of the upcoming season premiere, Starz has put out this video showcasing the new players in the complicated world of Da Vinci’s Demons.

The network’s also released these official new character descriptions:

  • IMA – The Inca High Priestess is as strikingly beautiful as she is formidable. Ima has an influence
    over her people that even the emperor, Topa Inca, doesn’t possess.
  • DUKE ALFONSO – As son of Ferrante and future king of Naples, Alfonso never loses sight of the power within his grasp. However, his own ambitions could be his biggest downfall if he impudently gets in the way of his overbearing father.
  • AMERIGO VESPUCCI – A purveyor of curios, Amerigo does a lucrative business in securing exotica for the wealthy. His connections prove valuable to da Vinci and his friends, but he’s always looking for a way to profit, sometimes at their expense.
  • KING FERRANTE – Feared leader of one of the most powerful nations in Italy, King Ferrante’s known to proudly display the mummified corpses of his enemies. But an unlikely alliance proves to be a far more valuable addition to his collection.
