Huey Lewis and The News Sports Anniversary Album and Tour Dates

It’s been 30 years since Huey Lewis and The News released Sports and to celebrate the anniversary a Remastered Deluxe Edition from Capitol/UMe will be in stores on May 14, 2013. The digitally remastered CD was overseen by Lewis and will include the album’s nine songs as well as “choice live versions” on a second disc. The special edition is also set to include photos and memorabilia from the band along with new liner notes.


The band’s set to perform one of the songs from Sports on the April 2, 2013 episode of Dancing with the Stars and on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on May 15th. And in May, the group will head out on their Sports 30th Anniversary Tour, kicking off in New Jersey.

Commenting on the anniversary release, Lewis said, “We’ve always been very proud of the record and it’s going to be a blast to play it all live!”

Judith Hill Wows ‘The Voice’ Coaches, Appears in an Upcoming Documentary

Judith Hill had The Voice coaches fighting like cats and dogs to nab her for their team, and Adam Levine even stood on his chair while furiously clapping at the end of her performance. Levine gave Hill’s rendition of “What a Girl Wants” high praise, saying he was ready to do pretty much anything to get her on his team. And fortunately for Levine, Hill ultimately chose him to be her The Voice coach.

Previously, Hill’s gorgeous voice earned her the job of singing a duet with Michael Jackson on his This is It tour and she’d rehearsed with him for the two months leading up to his untimely death. And while offers flooded in following her performance of “Heal the World” at Michael Jackson’s funeral, she felt it would have been in poor taste to cash in on that performance and declined the opportunities presented at the time.

Hill chose to wait for The Voice to work on her career, however, she’ll also be seen in another project this summer. Hitting theaters on June 14, 2013, Twenty Feet From Stardom shines the spotlight on backup singers who support some of the music world’s biggest names. Directed by Morgan Neville, the documentary includes interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, and Sting, and features singers Hill, Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, and Tata Vega.

The Details:

Melissa McCarthy is the Female Star of the Year

CinemaCon’s selected Identity Thief star Melissa McCarthy as the 2013 CinemaCon Female Star of the Year. McCarthy will be awarded the honor during a special awards ceremony next month in Las Vegas. The annual gathering of motion picture theatre industry professionals will take place April 15-18th at Caesars Palace in Vegas, wrapping up with the awards ceremony on April 18th.

McCarthy was recently seen on the big screen starring opposite Jason Bateman in the road trip comedy Identity Thief. Next up, McCarthy has The Heat with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. McCarthy plays a foul-mouthed Boston cop who joins forces with an uptight FBI Special Agent (Bullock) to take down a drug lord.

Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser announced McCarthy’s award, stating: “With an incredible comedic timing that has had audiences around the world falling out of their seats laughing, Melissa McCarthy has proven to be the new queen of comedy. With the upcoming release of The Heat, and her most recent releases Identity Thief and Bridesmaids, she has continued to prove that she is the actress to watch in Hollywood. We could not be more thrilled to be able to honor her as this year’s ‘CinemaCon Female Star of the Year.’”

“I have now had the honor to direct Ms. McCarthy in two films and am hoping to direct every frame of film she appears in from now until the sun swells and consumes the Earth,” said director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat). “I have also officially filed adoption papers to make Ms. McCarthy my daughter. That’s how wonderful she is. She also smells like very expensive flowers.”

It’s Here! The Wolverine Unleashes 2 Trailers

After much teasing and quick glimpses of the latest X-Men movie, 20th Century Fox has released two official trailers for The Wolverine – one domestic, one international – starring Hugh Jackman. Directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), The Wolverine sends the steely-clawed mutant hero to Japan for more intense action adventures.
 
The Wolverine will open in theaters on July 26, 2013 and stars Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
 
The Plot:
 
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.

Keith Urban Adds More Light the Fuse 2013 Tour Dates

American Idol judge Keith Urban has just announced a new batch of tour dates for his upcoming Light the Fuse tour. The 45 dates will keep the popular singer on the road off and on throughout 2013, finishing up in Kentucky on December 8th.

Keith Urban is currently at work on his new album, however, a release date hasn’t been confirmed. He also hasn’t confirmed whether he’ll return for more AI judging duties.

Pretty Little Liars Spin-off Coming in October

ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars fans will be getting a double-dose of drama with the launch of a spin-off series. The new series Ravenswood, from the creators of PLL, will be debuting in October 2013 following the Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars.

Michael Riley, President ABC Family, announced the spin-off and the renewal of Pretty Little Liars for season five, saying, “Pretty Little Liars is brand-defining and demo-defining for ABC Family. We are proud to be able to grow the PLL franchise in two ways – both by adding additional seasons of the original and by extending the storytelling into a spin-off. Ravenswood will become another ‘must-tweet-TV’ series for us.”

“Pretty Little Liars has maintained the #1 spot in its cable time period in all core women demos since its premiere in 2010 with fans who are passionate, loyal, social and mobile. Ravenswood will have plenty of mystery, drama, friendships and suspense that will inspire the same dedication from its fans. We are very excited about both series,” added Kate Juergens, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development.

Details on Ravenswood:

Ravenswood will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA, which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them.

The Walking Dead Season Three Finale – “Welcome to the Tombs” Clip

Season three of The Walking Dead has been loaded with twists and the occasional gut-wrenching moments (and I’m not just referring to the literal wrenching of zombie guts), and the finale is sure to be one of the best episodes of the season. Airing on March 31, 2013, the finale finds Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his ragtag group of survivors confused over whether to stay and defend the prison if the Governor and his minions attack.
 
And while we’re talking The Walking Dead, have you taken the “Which Character Are You?” quiz yet? I just did and it turns out I’m Rick (I really thought I’d wind up a zombie, but apparently that wasn’t an option). Take the quiz at AMC’s official The Walking Dead site.

First Look: ‘White House Down’ Trailer with Channing Tatum

The White House and the President of the United States are under attack and it appears one man will be charged with saving our nation. No, this isn’t Olympus Has Fallen. Instead we’re talking about the second film of 2013 to feature an attack on the United States’ most famous residence – White House Down. Rather than Gerard Butler as the hero, White House Down gives us Channing Tatum. And instead of Aaron Eckhart as the President, this upcoming Columbia Pictures release has Jamie Foxx as the U.S. President.

The trailer’s heavy on the action and light on the actual story, however Columbia Pictures has released this synopsis:

Capitol Policeman John Cale (Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

White House Down comes to theaters on June 28, 2013.

“Time to meet the King Beyond the Wall”

HBO just released all the details on season three’s April episodes of Game of Thrones, but the network has even more to share about the upcoming season of the critically acclaimed series based on the books by George R.R. Martin. This latest video titled “Inside the Wildlings” takes a look beyond the Wall at the interesting group of people who will be featured this season.

Author Martin, executive producers/directors/writers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, Kit Harington, Rose Leslie, Ciaran Hinds, Kristofer Hivju discuss the Wildlings and how there are different types of people who make up the world beyond the Wall.

Details on Season 3:

As Blackwater Bay cools, the victors consolidate their power and rebuild King’s Landing. But new challengers for the Iron Throne rise from the most unexpected places. Characters old and new must navigate the demands of family, honor, ambition, love and – above all – survival, as the Westeros civil war rages into autumn.

As season three begins, the Lannisters hold absolute dominion over King’s Landing after repelling Stannis Baratheon’s forces. Yet Robb Stark, King in the North, still controls much of the South as well, and has yet to lose a battle. In the Far North, Mance Rayder has united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only the Night’s Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms, but nobody knows what happened to its Lord Commander and the force he led beyond the Wall.

Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen – reunited with her three growing dragons – ventures into Slaver’s Bay in search of ships to take her home and allies to conquer it.

Shark Tank TV Series LogoSeason five of ABC’s Shark Tank is looking for people interested in being a part of the show. The network’s just announced open casting calls for the upcoming season of the Emmy-nominated reality series.
 
The series will be conducting casting calls beginning on April 14, 2013 in Atlanta, GA. According to the network, the “first 500 entrepreneurs who show up in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Philadelphia are guaranteed to be seen and will pitch the Shark Tank casting team with their products, services or ideas.”
