Lifetime’s set the original dramatic movie Stalkers to premiere on April 13, 2013 at 8pm. The movie’s based on the book Whisper of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers by Rhonda Saunders. Directed by Mark Tonderai (House at the End of the Street, Hush), the cast includes Drea de Matteo, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, and Mena Suvar. David Wiener (Last Resort) adapted Saunders’ book.

The Plot:

Frustrated with the judicial system’s indifference towards stalking cases, ambitious A.D.A “Julia Winston” (O’Keefe) is determined to establish a task force charged with tracking and prosecuting predators before they harm or kill their victims. However, Julia’s “boys club” of bosses dismisses her concerns as trivial and repeatedly rebuffs her efforts.

Meanwhile, recently hired detective “Diane Harkin” (de Matteo) faces similar resistance from fellow officers in her new precinct when she discovers numerous unsolved stalking cases. But for Diane, the fight to change the system is personal. She herself is on the run, having fled a violent ex-husband who won’t rest until he catches up with her and their young son.

Crossing paths on an especially harrowing case of a woman terrorized by an obsessive former lover (Suvari), Diane and Julia find common ground and form an unlikely partnership to tackle the case. But the two soon realize that to beat stalkers at their own game, they can’t play strictly by the rules, and that bringing these criminals to justice means both Diane and Julia must put their careers — and lives — on the line. Henry Simmons (NYPD Blue, Shark) also stars as Harper’s partner “Cliff.”

Book Review: ‘1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die’ (Anniversary Edition)

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die Book Review

In the introduction to 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, the general editor, Steven Schneider, describes the book as offering an “all-genre, all-world, must-see film list.” The editors began the selection process by looking at the frequency of mentions on “greatest,” “top,” “favorite,” “best,” film lists. That was just the first step, however, as they were careful not to include only “high cinematic art” at the expense of those with populist appeal, for as Schneider states, “even if you could have filet mignon every single day, once in a while you’re bound to crave a hamburger.”

So, included in the book is everything from obscure foreign films to Hollywood blockbusters.

The book is arranged in chronological order beginning with the 1902 Georges Melies Le Voyage dans la lune (A Trip to the Moon), featured in Scorsese’s Hugo, through films of the last decade. A year chosen at random, 1992, includes The Player, Reservoir Dogs, Unforgiven, as well as foreign films, The Crying Game, Strictly Ballroom, and Conte d’Hiver (A Tale of Winter).

In addition to information such as producer, director, screenwriter, and cast, each entry includes a synopsis, photos, awards, commentary, and trivia. A very useful feature is a film index and checklist to record those watched.

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is a must have for film fans.

Imagine Dragons Night Visions Tour Concert Review

Imagine Dragons 2013 Concert Review
Imagine Dragons perform at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA - Photo © Richard Chavez

It was a beautiful Tuesday evening in Anaheim, CA, home of Disneyland Park, California Adventures, and Downtown Disney where the House of Blues is located and was filled with fans of three bands: opening acts Nico Vega and Atlas Genius, and headliners, Imagine Dragons. The March 19, 2013 show, which was completely sold out, was to support their latest release, Night Visions.

Fans of all ages were lined up anxiously awaiting the chance to get into the general admission venue, hoping to get a spot right up on the railing to see their favorite bands play up close and personal. However, location didn’t really matter as no matter where you were in the venue, every spot was a great spot. Once doors opened at approximately 6:30pm and the ticket hosts and security started checking bags and pockets with their security wands, the fans darted straight up the stairs into the venue.

Nico Vega was the first act to get the night started. They put on a pretty cool performance and at one point were sampling themselves, making some beatbox-type noises to humming melodies creating an awesome beat and sound. The sounds of Nico Vega remind me of something my aunts and uncles would listen to while smoking weed or taking some sort of drug. I think at some point I was having a flashback.

Next up on stage was Atlas Genius. They played songs from their new album When It Was Now. It was like listening to the CD on your iPod or iTouch on random mode with a bunch of friends. Everyone was singing, dancing and having a great time. They finally ended their set list with their KROQ hit “Trojans,” with the lead singer introducing it by saying, “It’s not a song about condoms, although that would be a cool song.”

Finally, it was time for the main event. The House of Blues was completely packed. The stage was filled with drums at every musicians’ spot including Dan Reynolds. There were also tree-like props that held lights on every branch, and oval-shaped screens that had images playing during some of the songs. There were also huge bass drums that Dan played as well. The lights went out and on the screens behind them were eyes. With the sounds of thunder playing during the intro, the band mates came out only to play all the drums that were on the stage. The crowd was going nuts. After the intro, they opened up with “Round and Round.” Every song from that point was connected with random drum beats or some sort of guitar sound effects. They played all of their hits played on KROQ, “Demons” and “Radioactive”, ending their set with of course, “It’s Time.”

Coming out one last time, they played “Nothing Left To Say.” At one point during the show, Dan took time to say thank you to the fans for being there for them, also saying that he really loved playing at such a small place because of the great feeling of intimacy. I was totally blown away by their performance and stage presence. I hope to get an opportunity to see these guys again. TRUE MUSICIANS!!!!

Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience Has a Huge First Week

Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience CoverJustin Timberlake’s return to music hasn’t gone unnoticed, with fans snatching up albums at a rate that could possibly bring the sales of The 20/20 Experience to 1 million over its first week in release. Back when the album was first announced, industry estimates put the expected sales figure at around 500,000. But Timberlake’s break to play golf and work on his acting career apparently didn’t affect the demand for his music. And now it appears the album could make it to 1 million in sales.

It’s pretty much a guarantee The 20/20 Experience will hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart when it’s revealed on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

In support of the album’s release, Timberlake’s been popping up all over the place. He recently handled his fifth time as host of Saturday Night Live (joining a very exclusive club) and he just wrapped up a week of being a guest every night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

If Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience does hit the 1 million record sales mark in its first week, it will become only the 19th album to do so.
