Desiree Hartsock is the New Bachelorette

Desiree Hartsock is The Bachelorette
Desiree Hartsock - (ABC/Kevin Foley)

The new Bachelorette has been revealed. ABC’s tapped Desire Hartsock as the lovely lady who men will be competing to win over on the next season of The Bachelorette. Hartsock was devastated when Bachelor Sean Lowe sent her home after they seemed to have made a connection. Following the hometown dates, Sean sent Desiree packing – a decision she said was a huge mistake. Now she’ll be the one who decides who stays and who goes as she tries to make a romantic connection on the ninth season of The Bachelorette.

Season nine will debut on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 9pm (it’ll move to 8pm on May 27th).

Details on Desiree Hartsock [Courtesy of ABC]:

Desiree, 26, moved numerous times with her family as a youth and eventually settled in Colorado. After her high school graduation, she moved to California where she attended Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FITM) in Los Angeles. Although her family was of modest means, they were rich in love. Their values helped guide Desiree to become an industrious, passionate and creative woman who loves living in California and working hard to make her dreams come true. She is currently an operations manager at a bridal salon and a bridal stylist, but that hasn’t stopped her for shooting for the stars. She is confident that in the future she will be a bridal gown designer who owns her own boutique. But more than anything, Desiree’s ultimate dream is to find a love like the one her parents share. Married for 35 years, but together for 40, they’ve always supported and appreciated one another. It’s that cherished model of marriage that led Desiree to be on The Bachelor, where she fell in love with Sean.

This spunky, athletic and artistic woman is eagerly looking for a life filled with spontaneity, love and laughter. She hopes someday to travel the world with that special someone whom she’ll run home to see every day. And she is positive, after falling in love on The Bachelor, that she can find her soul mate on The Bachelorette.

Details on ‘Renovation Nation’ Home Makeover Show

NBC Logo

Nate Berkus will be hosting and executive producing a new home makeover competition on NBC titled Renovation Nation. The 10-episode series will find home builders and designers transforming homes in a competition that ultimately awards dream homes to the series’ two big winners.

“I’m beyond excited about the fresh approach we’re taking with this show. The challenges we have created are so visual, layered, and unique – that even I have to admit I’m jealous I’m not competing,” said Berkus.

Per the announcement: “This bold new series will travel across the country one city at a time, with two separate teams tackling two new homes each week. […]The contestants will be evaluated by Berkus and his team of experts to determine which team did the best. The winning team will be safe from elimination and the losing team will have to choose who to send home.

Viewers will be able to tour the homes virtually and purchase specific items that are featured in that episode. In addition, weekly prizes will also be given away to viewers, ranging from luxury household items to home makeovers, and cold hard cash. The series will culminate in the live finale where the two final contestants will each pull off a complete home rebuild and design on their own — implementing their own unique visions for a spectacular dream home. America will vote for the winner and those same two homes will then be given away to two fortunate viewers at the end of the live finale.”

“We are delighted to work with the incredibly talented Nate Berkus, whose expertise, creativity and passion for design are unparalleled in scope,” said Paul Telegdy, President, of Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “We believe we are in a time where Americans want to feel empowered and inspired to make changes to their homes; changes that will not only increase their value and quality of life but at the same time – not break the bank. Our goal is to showcase incredibly diverse architecture, impeccable design and epic transformations unlike anything you’ve seen before.”

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones fans may want to head to Anaheim over the last weekend in March. Lily Collins (‘Clary’) made the announcement that the movie will be showing off a new theatrical and poster at WonderCon which takes place March 29-31, 2013. And author Cassandra Clare shared a little more info on what The Mortal Instruments fans can expect at the event:

“So 1) yes, Lily, Jamie, Harald, me, and perhaps others :) will be at Wondercon in Anaheim this year, doing a panel, answering questions, and most of all — debuting the new theatrical trailer and the new poster that will go up in theaters!

2) While it would be absolutely awesome if you could attend Wondercon to see us, if you don’t: this is still very good news since what it means is that there will be a new theatrical trailer and a new poster ready to go out into the world at the end of March. Wondercon is just a way of saying ‘THESE ARE READY TO GO!’ (And trust me, when I find out exactly when our Wondercon panel is and which movie the trailer will be attached to, I will post about it RIGHT HERE. I have been asking myself almost every day.)”

The Plot:

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens in theaters on August 23, 2013.

Star Trek Into Darkness Shows Off a New Trailer

This latest trailer for the highly anticipated new Star Trek film – Star Trek Into Darkness – not only does a good job of showing off the film’s action but also gives us a small glimpse as to the film’s humor. Not everything in the trailer is something we haven’t seen in other teasers before, but the fresh new scenes should make any Star Trek fan geek out (or at least grow a little more enthusiastic about the movie’s May release).

The new trailer shows Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) arguing over whether their ship will fit through an incredibly tight space, Kirk and Bones racing through a field, a massive fish that freaks out Scotty (Simon Pegg), and Benedict Cumberbatch looking very, very serious.
