Matthew McConaughey Looks Fierce on ‘Mud’s New Poster

Mud Movie Poster with Matthew McConaughey

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are showing off this new US poster for the dramatic movie Mud starring Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Jacob Lofland, Sam Shepard, Michael Shannon, and Reese Witherspoon.

Mud‘s already had a run on the festival circuit and will be entering theaters on April 26, 2013.

The Plot: Mud is an adventure about two boys, Ellis (Sheridan) and his friend Neckbone (Lofland), who find a man named Mud (McConaughey) hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. Mud describes fantastic scenarios—he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper (Witherspoon), who is waiting for him in town.

Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow.

‘Iron Man 3’ Extended Super Bowl Trailer Reveals More Action

Iron Man 3

Why didn’t Marvel Studios just release this Iron Man 3 trailer during the 2013 Super Bowl rather than the tiny sneak peek of it they did choose to show off during the big game? This trailer’s much more effective, but on game day it was only available by visiting the movie’s Facebook page. Now the studio’s released the extended trailer (which includes the clip shown on Super Bowl Sunday) and it does a much better job of selling the action movie than what the studio displayed during the Super Bowl.

Iron Man 3 will arrive in theaters on May 3, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley.

The Plot:

Marvel’s Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Put Your House ‘Under the Dome’

CBS debuted a short (make that very short) teaser for the upcoming series Under the Dome during Super Bowl XLVII which didn’t give away anything at all. In fact, it’s pretty much the first promotional photo from the series with wording added to it. Still, if you’re excited at all about Stephen King’s Under the Dome transitioning into a series, then the teaser was probably enough for now.

The main purpose of the short-but-sweet TV spot was to send viewers to the Under the Dome website. There, visitors to the site can enter their address to see the home trapped ‘under the dome.’

Under the Dome is set to premiere on June 24, 2013 at 10pm.

The Plot: Under the Dome is the story of a small New England town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.

The Best 2013 Super Bowl Commercials

TiVo 2013 Super Bowl Top Commercials

My picks for the best commercials of the 2013 Super Bowl are Budweiser’s “Brotherhood” ad with the Clydesdale foal, Oreo’s “Whisper Fight” in a library, and Samsung’s “The Next Big Thing” with Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd. However, according to TiVo none of my favorites made the Top 10 list of Super Bowl XLVII commercials.

TiVo uses a “second-by-second audience research service which ranks these top ten commercials based on actual commercial retention and viewership relative to the program viewership numbers” in order to create their annual list of the best Super Bowl ads.

Says Tara Maitra, Senior Vice President, General Manager Content & Media Sales at TiVo: “We’re seeing more Super Bowl commercials created by users and voted on before the game, as well as brands previewing their spots on the web well before Super Bowl Sunday. This shift reduces the element of surprise in making a commercial successful and TRA’s unique ability to help networks and marketers determine what’s really resonating with viewers can help improve the effectiveness of ad campaigns and ultimately the ROI of an ad buy.”

TiVo’s Top 10 Commercials:

1. Taco Bell “Viva Young”
2. Doritos “Goat For Sale”
3. Hyundai Santa Fe “Pick Your Team”
4. Doritos “Fashionista Daddy”
5. GoDaddy.com “Perfect Date”
6. M&Ms “Anything for Love”
7. Sketchers “Man Vs. Cheetah”
8. Pepsi Next “Pepsi Next Drink it to Believe It”
9. Audi “Prom”
10. Volkswagen “Get In. Get Happy”

However, Adweek has also put together a list of the five best ads for Super Bowl Sunday and its list looks completely different.

1. RAM “Farmer”
2. Budweiser “Brotherhood”
3. Samsung “The Next Big Thing”
4. Oreo “Whisper Fight”
5. Taco Bell “Viva Young”
