World War Z Trailer Coming on Thursday

And until then, ET’s hosting this teaser clip with Brad Pitt in charge of fighting zombies. Now, I’ve read Max Brooks’ best-seller World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and the teaser trailer appears to confirm the screenplay used the book basically as a jumping off point. The troubled production went through a series of rewrites and reshoots and has had its release date bumped around before finally settling on June 21, 2013. Directed by Marc Forster (The Kite Runner), World War Z also features Mireille Enos, Bryan Cranston, and James Badge Dale.

The Plot:

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Daniella Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Mark owns the coffee shop and roasterie in Friday Harbor, Washington State. Maggie Conway – played by Mumford – comes to Friday Harbor as a refugee of sorts from Seattle. Maggie was abandoned at the altar by her husband?to?be; it’s a perfect time for her to achieve her long?held dream of opening a magical toy store in the town where she spent her summers as a girl. Mark has help in raising Holly from his two older brothers. All three uncles have their hearts in the right place, but they’re charmingly inept in their new roles – and they’re not helped by the fact that Holly hasn’t uttered a word since losing her mother. That’s where Maggie comes in: Despite the approach of the busy Christmas retail season, she gives Holly extra attention every time the young girl comes into the welcoming shop. Maggie assumes Mark is “spoken for” during the whole getting?to?know?you dance, because Mark is in a relationship with Shelby, played by Alex Paxton?Beesley. But that relationship is floundering, and Mark and Maggie keep bumping into each other, which is not surprising given the cozy size of the village of Friday Harbor.

“HAPPY NEW YEAR, CHARLIE BROWN”
THURDSAY, DECEMBER 27 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET; OAD 12/30/08):
ABC and the PEANUTS gang will ring in the new year with the animated PEANUTS special, “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown,” created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, along with “She’s a Good Skate, Charlie Brown. In “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown,” the PEANUTS gang is ringing in 1986 and Marcie and Peppermint Patty are throwing a big New Year’s Eve bash. Charlie Brown plans to celebrate the holiday by curling up with a big book that weighs nearly as much as he does: Tolstoy’s War and Peace. The book’s weight doesn’t stop him from lugging it to Lucy’s pre-party dance class, where he cuts a mean rug with a rollicking Patty. With just 1131 pages to go, Charlie Brown takes another break, this time for the party, and summons the courage to invite his true love, the little red-haired girl. She doesn’t respond, but hapless Chuck shows up anyway – with Tolstoy in tow. Then he settles down with the book – on a porch swing in a snowstorm, and in so doing, misses the evening’s big surprise. In “She’s a Good Skate, Charlie Brown,” disaster strikes as Peppermint Patty heads to her first major ice skating competition with coach Snoopy and faithful companion Marcie by her side. As always, the unassuming Woodstock flies in to save the day.

Christina Aguilera, Jimmy Fallon Do “Your Body” with Office Supplies

And what we’re talking about is nowhere near as raunchy as the title suggests. Christina Aguilera and Jimmy Fallon got together to perform a version of Aguilera’s hit “Your Body” with The Roots and some normal everyday office supplies. The resulting video proves that a stapler can be a wicked musical instrument in the right hands, and Aguilera has an incredible voice (as if that fact was actually in question).

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon provided this list of the office supplies featured in the video:

Christina Aguilera – vocals, stapler
Jimmy Fallon – iPhone keypad
Questlove – coffee pots with pencil drumsticks
Tuba Gooding Jr. – Scotch tape
Frank Knuckles – Poland Spring water cooler jug
Captain Kirk – tissue box & elastic band guitar
James Poyser – spiral notebook (a.k.a. the “tear snare”)
Mark Kelley – keyboard washboard
Black Thought – paper clip shaker
Kamal Gray – scissor

Gary Predicts the Election Winner

Who’s Gary and why should you care who he’s voting for? Well, first off, he’s a she – and she is Jimmy Fallon’s adorable puppy. And on November 5, 2012 Gary was given the choice of two bowls of kibble: one representing a vote for President Obama and one representing Mitt Romney. After Fallon briefly explained the differences between the candidate, it was up to Gary to make her decision.

One Direction Coming to The X Factor

One Direction Take Me HomeNo strangers to the X Factor format, boy band One Direction will be taking the stage on the American version of the show on November 8, 2012. The group was discovered during the 2010 U.K. X Factor so it’s only fitting that they wind up on the U.S. version of the series where they’ll be singing two of their hits, “Little Things” and “Live While We’re Young.”

One Direction will perform during The X Factor‘s first live results show of the season. Following their performances, co-hosts Mario Lopez and Khloé Kardashian Odom will reveal the bad news as to which competitors won’t be sticking around.

“Having come from the U.K. X Factor, we can’t wait to perform on the U.S. stage – it’s going to be a great night!” said group member Zayn Malik.

“We’re really excited to be on the American X Factor,” added fellow member Niall Horan. “It’ll be the first time we’ve performed in front of ‘Uncle Si’ since we were on the U.K. X Factor. So, hopefully, we’ll make him proud!”

This Week on The X Factor:

November 7 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) – The X Factor heats up as the finalists, with the help of their mentors, take the stage once again. But this time, it will be up to America, as well as the judges, to decide who moves forward in the competition. Immediately after Wednesday’s performance show, fans will be able to vote via 1) Verizon Touch Voting on The Xtra Factor App on Verizon Android devices; 2) toll-free calling; 3) text messaging for Verizon Wireless customers; and 4) online at TheXFactorUSA.com. Fans with valid Facebook accounts can also vote at Facebook.com/TheXFactorUSA.

The modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes has just landed the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot. CBS says Elementary, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, will screen a special episode after the Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday, February 3, 2013 (sometime around 10pm-ish). The freshman series has come out of the gates to impressive ratings, averaging 14.2 million viewers. It currently ranks as the #2 new series on television this season, according to CBS. (Vegas holds the top spot at 14.5 million viewers).

The Details:

Elementary stars Miller as eccentric, mischievous detective Sherlock Holmes and Liu as Dr. Joan Watson, a former surgeon turned sober companion. Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sobriety coach. Now running free in New York solving crimes, it’s simple deduction that he’s going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it’s elementary that it’s a job for Watson.

Also, Aidan Quinn stars as Capt. Thomas Gregson, who knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, along with Jon Michael Hill, who portrays Det. Marcus Bell, a top-notch investigator who is initially skeptical of Holmes and his unorthodox methods.

Per NBC: “In the first elimination show of the season, the two artists who receive the most viewer votes on each team from the previous nights’ Live Playoffs, will be saved and guaranteed a spot in the Monday, November 12 Live Show. Meanwhile, each coach is tasked with the difficult decision of choosing one more artist from the remaining three to move forward in the competition and perform in the next week’s Live Show, thereby eliminating the other artists.”
