The boy band One Direction continues to dominate the charts and has now set a US chart record. The UK group has taken over the top spot as the “highest selling first week single sales by a UK artist” with their release of “Live While We’re Young.” According to Columbia Records, the first single from the upcoming Take Me Home album debuted on the Billboard Digital Track and Song charts at #1, and its 341,000+ numbers earned it the biggest opening week sales by “a single by a non-US artist ever.”

Christina Aguilera, who was just revealed as the first performer confirmed for the show, had the honor of announcing the nominees for 40th Anniversary American Music Awards. Topping the list are Nicki Minaj and Rihanna with four nominations a piece. Following closely behind are rake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Usher with three each. The 2012 Artist of the Year nominees include Justin Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5, Katy Perry and Rihanna.
