And Not Once Do They Say Hi-Yo Silver! Away!

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger

More than anything, this first trailer from The Lone Ranger shows off the tone Gore Verbinski’s attempting to capture with his big-budget action epic. The trailer stresses the action and doesn’t really bother showing much of either The Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) or Tonto (played by Johnny Depp). No doubt, Disney and Verbinski are saving that for the next big trailer reveal.

The Plot:

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ The Lone Ranger, a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

The Lone Ranger hits theaters on July 3, 2013.

Wondering how you’ll be spending the last day of your Thanksgiving holiday weekend? Lifetime hopes you’ll be so full you’ll want to stay home and watch TV, and that you’ll tune in to check out Lindsay Lohan attempting to play Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick. The network will premiere the drama on November 25, 2012 at 9pm ET/PT.

The made-for-TV movie also stars Grant Bowler as Richard Burton and was directed by Lloyd Kramer (Mitch Albom’s The Five People You Meet in Heaven). Temple Grandin screenwriter Christopher Monger wrote the script.

The Plot:

For nearly a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance — often called “the marriage of the century” — was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Swarmed by paparazzi worldwide, their love affair was played out entirely in front of the media from the time they met on the set of the major motion picture Cleopatra, left their respective spouses, married and divorced, only to remarry and divorce once again. Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Liz and Dick shared an undeniable love greater than most people could ever dream of.

‘K-11’ From Kristen Stewart’s Mom Gets Picked Up for Distribution

It doesn’t hurt to have your daughter constantly in the news when it comes time to get your feature film directorial debut picked up for distribution, does it?

Jules Stewart, mom of Twilight star Kristen, just had her dramatic film K-11 picked up by Breaking Glass Pictures. Breaking Glass is planning to open the film in North American theaters in late 2012 or early 2013.

Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff made the deal for distribution in collaboration with Libertine Films’ Tom Wright. Announcing the acquisition, Wright stated: “The Breaking Glass team is a great fit for K-11 as they are uniquely positioned to market the film to both a wide audience and the several niche demographics that will love this film. We’re certain they will truly capitalize on its diverse market appeal.”

Added Wolff: “We are pleased to be distributing the very talented Jules Stewart’s first film. K-11 is very unique to say the least and surely will raise a few eyebrows. The acting is dead on, the story is gripping, and we are gunning for multiple award nominations.”

K-11

The Plot: The film follows Raymond Saxx Jr. (Goran Visnjic), a powerful record producer who wakes from a drug-induced blackout to find himself locked up in K-11, the [real] section of the Los Angeles County Men’s Central jail for gay and transgender inmates. Plunged into a nightmarish world ruled by a transsexual diva named Mousey (Kate del Castillo), Raymond is truly a fish out of water.

Complicating matters are a troubled young transgender named Butterfly (Portia Doubleday), a predatory child molester (Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister), and the ruthless Sheriff’s Deputy, Lt. Johnson (D.B. Sweeney). Ray’s struggle to contact the outside world and regain his freedom seems impossible, so he must learn to navigate this new power structure if he is ever going to survive and regain control of his life.

The cast also includes Jason Mewes, Tara Buck, and Kristen’s brother, Cameron.

Movie 43 Restricted Trailer Arrives

This comedy movie had me at “Gerard Butler as a leprechaun.” In the new red band trailer (totally inappropriate for work, anyone easily offended, or under 17) for Movie 43, Butler is just one of dozens of recognizable faces handling roles we wouldn’t usually associate with their body of work. Included in the new trailer are scenes with Elizabeth Banks, Halle Berry, Kate Bosworth, Kieran Culkin, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chris Pratt, Liev Schreiber, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, and Kate Winslet.

Directed by Steven Brill, Peter Farrelly, Will Graham, Steve Carr, Griffin Dunne, James Duffy, Jonathan Van Tulleken, Elizabeth Banks, Patrik Forsberg, Brett Ratner, Rusty Cundieff, and James Gunn, Movie 43 will hit theaters on January 25, 2013.

The Plot:

Movie 43 is the outrageous new comedy from the twisted mind of Peter Farrelly and starring some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Comprised of hilarious and offensive story lines and featuring tons of familiar faces we love, Movie 43 is the first of its kind, putting each actor in crazy and unique scenarios. This isn’t spam, it’s just celebrities gone wild… or perhaps it’s just plain wrong!

In the second season, currently debuting new episodes Fridays at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) and concluding its run Oct. 12, the team tracks nuclear triggers stolen by a powerful businessman with dangerous geo-political ambitions, while the two lead characters face personal challenges and contend with the pressures of their high-stress work.
