Coming this fall: The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age and The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth. And, no, they aren’t films four and five in the ever-expanding The Hobbit film series from Peter Jackson. Instead, the two titles are the names of games inspired by The Hobbit trilogy.
Kabam and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment have teamed up on games that will be free to play on mobile devices and the internet. Beginning today, players can signup at https://www.kabam.com/the-hobbit-armies to try out the upcoming beta for The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age.
“The Hobbit films are among the most anticipated entertainment launches of all time,” stated Kevin Chou, CEO, Kabam. “Kabam’s unique ability to blend the art of game design and the science of free-to-play distribution makes us a natural fit to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to deliver thrilling games via the Web and mobile devices for The Hobbit film fans around the world.”
“We are very pleased to work with Kabam in creating immersive free-to-play online games on massive scales across multiple platforms,” added Greg Ballard, Senior Vice President, Digital Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Kabam’s Armies of the Third Age and Kingdoms of Middle-earth will be an excellent way for The Hobbit film fans around the world to delve more into the iconic story and interact with the characters in the universe.”
The Details [Courtesy of Kabam]:
The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth is a game for mobile devices that challenges players to build and manage their own kingdom in Middle-earth, joining with other players to explore and engage in epic war. The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age is a browser-based game that puts gamers at the helm of an army of Elves, Dwarves or Orcs, controlling heroes including Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, in fast-paced strategic combat, with the fate of Middle-earth hanging in the balance. Both games are free to play and will feature iconic locations and characters from The Hobbit Trilogy.

First Look: ‘The Details’ Trailer Starring Tobey Maguire

A falling piano, a raccoon on a toilet, and Tobey Maguire. What do these things have in common? They’re all featured in the trailer for The Details from director Jacob Aaron Estes. Available on VOD on October 5 followed by a theatrical run on November 2nd, the cast also includes Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, Kerry Washington, and Ray Liotta.
The Plot:
After ten years of marriage, Jeff and Nealy Lang (Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks) have an idyllic suburban home… and a relationship on the skids. Soon the relentless rodents aren’t merely uprooting the lawn but also overturning the Langs’ entire bourgeois existence, as the man-versus-beast battle leads into an absurd mess of infidelity, extortion, organ donation, and other assorted mayhem.

Fargo Heading to the Small Screen?
The Hollywood Reporter says Joel and Ethan Coen are ready to executive produce a series on FX based on their critically acclaimed 1996 film, Fargo. The filmmaking brothers will be working with writer Noah Hawley (My Generation) in adapting Fargo for the small screen.
Fargo starred Frances McDormand, Steve Buscemi, William H Macy, and Peter Stormare and was set in Fargo, North Dakota. The dark comedy followed McDormand as a police chief investigating a botched kidnapping. The film earned seven Oscar nominations, winning in the Best Actress and Best Original Screenplay categories.
A Fargo series? This is a film-to-TV adaptation that might actually work, if the Coens remained involved.
The Walking Dead Season 3 – Michonne Character Video

Gurira takes on the role of Michonne, a fan favorite from the comic book series, and in this video from the set, she talks about what it was like to bring the character to life on the small screen.

Treme Season 3 October Episode Guide
Treme returned this month for season three, and HBO’s just unveiled details on what fans can expect from upcoming episodes.
The Plot:
First, the people came back. Then, the crime. Now, more than two years after the near death of a great city, the money is starting to arrive, which would sound like a solution if this were some place other than New Orleans, and this was some other era but America at the millennium.
For the people of New Orleans, even the promises of redevelopment come with strings attached, and every dollar that shows up – whether from government disaster relief, or from venture capital, or even from those seeking to remake New Orleans in the wake of Katrina – carries with it new dynamics and new risks. National interest has waned, moving on to the next headline, but those who know and love the Crescent City have no choice. They must find their way back to what matters in the life of their city. However, little of what they can bring to bear yields a quick result, and nothing about New Orleans – its government, its police department and courtrooms, its school system – works as it should. Nothing is easy.
In the end, their only weapons are community. And culture.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Shows Off His Exotic Dancer Moves

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s opening monologue for the September 22, 2012 episode of Saturday Night Live was short on words but long on stripping/dancing. Gordon-Levitt asks the audience, “Do you know what my favorite superhero movie of the summer was?” He then answers his own question with: “em>Magic Mike. I’m serious.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt totally gets into the Magic Mike spirit, going shirtless and dancing to “It’s Raining Men.” Might there be a role in the sequel for Mr. Gordon-Levitt?

Running Time: 112 minutes
Genres: Musical, comedy
Directed By: Jason Moore
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual material, language and drug references
News: Pitch Perfect music video contest
Official Synopsis: Beca (Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of anyone’s mouth. Arriving at Barden University, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she would never have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college music competitions. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.
