News: Pitch Perfect music video contest
Official Synopsis: Beca (Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of anyone’s mouth. Arriving at Barden University, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she would never have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college music competitions. This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.

First Look: ‘Promised Land’ Trailer and Poster
Matt Damon reunites with his Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant for Promised Land, a dramatic film he co-wrote with John Krasinski (The Office). Damon and Krasinski also co-star in the film, which tackles the subject of fracking. What’s fracking? Per Websters, fracking – or hydraulic fracturing – is:
“A process in which fractures in rocks below the earth’s surface are opened and widened by injecting chemicals and liquids at high pressure: used especially to extract natural gas or oil.”
The Plot:
Matt Damon plays Steve Butler, an ace corporate salesman who is sent along with his partner, Sue Thomason (Frances McDormand), to close a key rural town in his company’s expansion plans. With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company’s offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (John Krasinski), as well as the interest of a local woman (Rosemarie DeWitt).
Promised Land explores America at the crossroads where big business and the strength of small-town community converge.
Promised Land opens December 28, 2012 in New York and Los Angeles, and January 11th nationwide.

About That Opening Bit…The 2012 Emmys Opening Video
Did you miss the 64th Primetime Emmys? Are you desperately in need of knowing how this year’s show kicked off? Here’s a recap: nominees practiced their ‘surprised’ faces, Lena Dunham (Girls) ate something while naked in a toilet stall, and Jimmy Kimmel freaked out about hosting the show as the result of his disastrous reaction to Botox injections.
There, now you don’t have to feel like you missed out on anything.
Or, you could actually just watch the video for yourself.

Tribeca Film Believes in No Rest for the Wicked

Winner of six Goya Awards including Best Film (the Spanish equivalent of the Academy Awards’ Best Picture Oscar), No Rest for the Wicked has found a North American distributor in Tribeca Film. The thriller, directed by Enrique Urbizu (Box 507, Life Marks), will be released in December 2012.
“Enrique Urbizu asserts his place at the top of the pantheon of Spanish directors, expertly immersing audiences in a police corruption story where you simultaneously root for and are repelled by its anti-heroes,” stated Geoff Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer of Tribeca Enterprises. “The film combines outstanding craftsmanship with vivid performances, led by the fearless José Coronado, culminating in a wonderfully conceived metaphorical examination of morals in our current day and age.”
The Plot:
Santos Trinidad (José Coronado) is a dirty cop with a violent streak and a serious thirst for rum and Coke. During a drunken binge, he murders three people in a bar. A witness escapes from the building before Santos can catch him. While Santos sets out to kill the witness and cover up his crimes, a judge and the police conduct an investigation into the murders. Santos’ hunt for the witness and the parallel police investigation slowly converge to reveal a massive criminal conspiracy that no one involved could have ever anticipated.

Happy Hobbit Day! New The Hobbit Poster Arrives

New Line Cinema, MGM, and Warner Bros. Pictures have just put out this new poster for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey featuring birthday boy Bilbo Baggins in honor of Hobbit Day. For those not into all things Tolkien, September 22nd is Hobbit Day as it’s the birthday of both Bilbo and Frodo. The Baggins were born on this date, but in different years – of course.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Synopsis:
The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.
Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey makes the journey to theaters on December 14, 2012.
