Elizabeth Mitchell Joins ‘Revolution’ Sci-Fi Series

Revolution Cast
Anna Lise Phillips as Maggie, Graham Rogers as Danny, Tim Guiee as Ben, David Lyons as Bass Monroe, Billy Burke as Miles, Tracy Spiridakos as Charlie, Andrea Roth as Rachel, Maria Howell as Grace, JD Pardo as Nate, Zak Orth as Aaron, Giancarlo Esposito as Lt. Neville (Photo by: Nino Munoz/NBC)

The Hollywood Reporter says Elizabeth Mitchell is reuniting with Lost‘s J.J. Abrams for Revolution, the new sci-fi thriller coming to NBC on Monday, September 17th at 10pm. Mitchell will be joining Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Anna Lise Phillips, Zak Orth, Graham Rogers, J.D. Pardo, Giancarlo Esposito, David Lyons, Maria Howell, Tim Guinee, and Andrea Roth in the series created by Abrams and Eric Kripke (Supernatural).

The Plot:

Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why?

Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

From director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) and the fertile imaginations of J.J. Abrams (Lost, Person of Interest) and Eric Kripke (Supernatural), comes a surprising “what if” action-adventure series, where an unlikely hero will lead the world out of the dark. Literally.

Winning Songs Announced for the We Made This Movie Soundtrack

We Made This MovieRed Bull Soundstage and Worldwide Pants have chosen four winners who’ll be featured on the soundtrack to We Made This Movie, an independent film directed by Rob Burnett (the CEO of Worldwide Pants). The artists were chosen after musicians were asked to submit songs to accompany four pivotal scenes, with online audiences voting on the entries.

The top 24 songs will be included in an ‘Audience Choice’ contest with the winner getting the opportunity to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman in September. Beginning July 18th and running through August 7th, fans can go the Red Bull Soundstage website to vote for their favorite.

We Made This Movie will premiere online on September 20th followed by a Video on Demand and Digital release.

“Going in, we crossed our fingers and hoped we’d get four usable songs for our movie. Very early in the listening process, however, panic set in — the good kind. The quality of the music submitted by Red Bull Soundstage artists created an embarrassment of riches. We listened to nearly 1,200 songs and all we could ask was, ‘How many of these can we fit in the film?’” explained Burnett. “We’re thrilled to be able to expose these emerging artists to a wider audience, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say the thing that matters most: Red Bull Soundstage made our film better. Much, much better.”

And the four winners are:

· “Daylight” by Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Christian Bitto accompanies the scene Run to the Chicken Plant.
· “Save Me” by Of Gentleman and Cowards , a four-piece pop rock band from Ontario, Canada will accompany the scene Funeral Drive.
· “Like A Star” by Miami-based songbird Laura Ault will set the mood for the scene LeBron Walks Kelly Home.
· The sounds of “Confession” by Los Angeles band D’Artagnan will be set to the scene Everyone Quits .

The Plot:

We Made This Movie is about five high school seniors set out to make a silly comedy movie, but accidentally end up making a dramatic and moving movie about their actual lives. The film will premiere in New York City on September 20, with a red carpet event and simultaneous, free live streaming of all activities and the movie.

Push GirlsThe Sundance Channel has revealed their schedule for the remainder of 2012 as well as the first months of 2013. Among the new shows coming soon are the docu-series Get to Work along with Rectify, the network’s first wholly scripted production.

GET TO WORK

Premiere: August 13, 2012

1 Hour, 8 Episodes

It’s no secret that getting, and keeping, a job in this economy takes more than just luck. After enough rejection, it’s easy to feel entirely locked out of the game. Right now there are millions of Americans out of work, and this August, Sundance Channel’s original docu-series Get to Work will take you inside a groundbreaking back-to-work program in San Diego, a hardcore boot camp that gives hope to the chronically unemployed: those who have no jobs, no direction, and seemingly no chance. It’s a high-stakes make-or-break moment and, for most of the students, this is their last crack at a real future. But it doesn’t come easy; as they push their students to learn workplace skills that will land them a job, the Instructors contend with those who have never learned anything other than bad attitudes and bad behavior. Not everyone makes it to graduation.

The cast includes Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Michelle Dockery, Michael Gambon and Charlotte Rampling. Filming will commence this summer in South Africa and the UK.

TOP OF THE LAKE

Top of the Lake is a powerful and haunting mystery about the search for happiness in a paradise where honest work is hard to find. Set in the remote mountains of New Zealand, the story follows the disappearance of a five months pregnant 12-year-old named Tui who was last seen standing chest deep in a frozen lake. In this classic mythic struggle, investigating detective, Robin Griffin (Moss), must lose herself in order to find the missing girl. During the investigation, she collides with Matt Mitcham (Mullan), Tui’s father, a local drug lord, and G.J (Hunter), a guru at a local women’s camp. Robin will find this the case that tests her limits and sends her on a journey of self-discovery. This project marks the first time that Campion and Hunter have worked together since each won an Oscar for their work on The Piano in 1993.

Rectify, Sundance Channel’s first wholly owned scripted production, follows the life of Daniel Holden (Aden Young) upon his release from prison. After serving nineteen years on Georgia’s Death Row, DNA evidence casts doubt on the prosecution’s case. Holden was only eighteen years of age when convicted and sentenced to die for the brutal rape and murder of a sixteen year old girl. With doubt surrounding his innocence, Holden returns to his family and to his hometown where the murder occurred and where many still believe he is guilty. Daniel spent all of his adult life waiting to die. Now he must learn how to live again or decide if he even wants to while others determine whether or not he will have that chance.

The hour-long drama was created and written by Academy Award® winner Ray McKinnon who also serves as executive producer on the project under his shingle Zip Works. The first is AMC’s Emmy Award®-winning series, Breaking Bad.

First Look: The Man With the Iron Fists

RZA co-wrote, directs and stars in the action-adventure film The Man With the Iron Fists featuring Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, Jamie Chung, Cung Le, Dave Bautista, Byron Mann, Daniel Wu and Pam Grier. Universal’s releasing the film most likely in the fall, however the studio hasn’t confirmed the date yet.

The Plot:

Quentin Tarantino presents The Man With the Iron Fists, an action-adventure inspired by kung-fu classics as interpreted by his longtime collaborators RZA and Eli Roth. Making his debut as a big-screen director and leading man, RZA—alongside a stellar international cast led by Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu—tells the epic story of warriors, assassins and a lone outsider hero in nineteenth-century China who must unite to destroy the clan traitor who would destroy them all.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. When the clans’ brewing war boils over, the stranger channels an ancient energy to transform himself into a human weapon. As he fights alongside iconic heroes and against soulless villains, one man must harness this power to become savior of his adopted people.

Blending astonishing martial-arts sequences from some of the masters of this world with the signature vision he brings as the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and as one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures of the past two decades, RZA embarks upon his most ambitious, stylized and thrilling project to date.

Grave Encounters Sequel Details

The sequel to 2011’s indie horror film Grave Encounters (a film which freaked me out and that I couldn’t watch alone) will be entering theaters in October. The 2011 found footage film, written and directed by the Vicious Brothers, was shot inside an abandoned mental institute and involved a crew from a ghost-hunting reality show investigating the reportedly haunted location only to become victims of the demons trapped in its walls.

Grave Encounters 2 picks up where the original left off, with a film student named Alex Wright out to prove the movie wasn’t just a movie but actually really happened.

The Plot:

“While researching the events depicted in the original film and the subsequent disappearance of its lead ‘actor’ Sean Rogerson, Alex Wright received a bizarre video from a mysterious blogger named ‘DeathAwaits666.’ Appearing to show Rogerson still alive but trapped inside the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital from Grave Encounters, Alex and his friends agree to meet the blogger at the infamous hospital in hopes of learning what really happened. To their horror, they quickly find themselves face-to-face with unspeakable evil. Realizing that they must be smarter and faster than Rogerson and his crew to avoid suffering the same fate, they use their knowledge of the original film to do whatever it takes to survive.”
