Queen with Adam Lambert Concerts Still Planned

Although Sonisphere 2012 was canceled just two weeks before Queen and Adam Lambert were scheduled to perform, the collaboration between Lambert and the iconic group is still moving forward. Queen just announced Adam Lambert will perform together at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo on July 11 and 12.

Queen also promised they will attempt to make sure anyone who had a ticket to the Knebworth concert will have “priority booking” for the just-announced concerts.

Per the official press release from the band’s spokesperson: “Queen acted immediately in looking for an alternative venue in an aim to avoid disappointing all those fans who had so desperately looked forward to seeing them at Knebworth. Coming in the lead into the Olympics, most of the venues they first approached were unavailable, being taken as official London Games 2012 venues. As the setting of some of the band’s best remembered concerts, the idea of returning to this historic Hammersmith venue really appealed to them.”

Brian May said, “Somehow this feels right – The Odeon is a big part of our history,
and its atmosphere is second to none. It’s the perfect place to acknowledge our faithful
fans, and will be a fitting return to our roots!”

Added Roger Taylor, “We had made up our minds to play in the UK this year, so play we
will ! Following the collapse of the Sonisphere organization we didn’t want to let down
all those people expecting to see us live!”

And Adam Lambert was quoted as saying: “I’m so thrilled that Queen found a way to
ensure that the fans will get to see this event this summer. I can’t wait to be in London
to perform with Queen for these incredibly special shows!”

One Direction Announces 2013 Summer Tour

Within in 10 minutes of going on sale, tickets to the December 3rd One Direction concert at Madison Square Garden were totally sold out. Fans also snatched up all the tickets to the group’s May and June concerts right after they were made available. So, how did One Direction respond to this showing of support from their American fans? By announcing they’ll be back in the States during the summer of 2013 as part of their world tour.

The 25 city US tour will kick off on June 13, 2013 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 21, at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.

“Our fans are simply the best in the world. The support they have shown us has been incredible and we’re all so grateful to each and every one of them. We can’t wait to see everyone this summer, at Madison Square Garden and of course when we play our world tour in 2013,” said Niall Horan.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2012 Performers and Presenters

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LogoAre you ready to rock? This Saturday, the 27th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in Cleveland. For those of you who can’t make it, HBO is scheduled to debut footage from the event on May 5th at 9pm. With the ceremony set for this weekend, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced Faces ((Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood) has been added to the list of performers. Also set to take the stage are Donovan with John Mellencamp, Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill with Joe Bonamassa and Derek Trucks joining Freddie King, and Darlene Love with Don Kirshner.

The Hall of Fame also confirmed LL Cool J and Chuck D will induct the Beastie Boys, Stevie Van Zandt will induct Faces, and John Mellencamp will induct Donovan. Bette Midler will induct Laura Nyro, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill will induct Freddie King, and Carole King will induct Don Kirshner. Robbie Robertson has been tapped to induct Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd, and Glyn Johns.

Smokey Robinson is set to induct The Blue Caps, the Comets, the Crickets, the Famous Flames, the Midnighters and the Miracles.

J.K. Rowling Reveals the Title of Her First Adult Novel

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling is moving on from the franchise with a new novel for adults titled The Casual Vacancy. Little, Brown Book Group revealed the title today and confirmed Rowling’s first book for adults will be published worldwide on September 27, 2012.

The Casual Vacancy Plot:

“When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

If the poster for Quill didn’t sell you on the movie, here’s the heartwarming synopsis:

“The documentary-like story of a yellow Labrador Retriever guide dog for the blind named Quill. We follow Quill from the litter, his selection to become a guide, his life with a foster family until his first birthday, followed by highly specialized schooling in guiding the sightless. He is then paired with a blind man named Watanabe Mitsuru who is at first reluctant to rely on Quill. But Quill’s great patience, gentleness and skill eventually wins him over and they become inseparable friends.”

Quill opens in limited release by Music Box Films on May 18, 2012.

ABC’s premiere episode of Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, the story of an innocent Midwest girl who meets the ultimate outrageous city girl, debuted at 9:31 pm on April 11th. The new comedy series features Krysten Ritter, Dreama Walker, Liza Lapira, Michael Blaiklock, Eric Andre, and James Van Der Beek as James Van Der Beek. And in support of the show’s premiere, ABC’s released this clip from the first episode. Check it out and see if it’s worth putting on your DVR schedule.

Britney Spears to Get a $15 Million Dollar Payday?

E! News says Britney Spears is posed to become the best paid reality TV judge, if her deal with The X Factor goes through. Spears’ camp has negotiated a $15 million payday for the troubled singer to take a seat next to Simon Cowell and LA Reid on the judges panel for the upcoming season of The X Factor.

E! News quotes an unnamed inside source: “Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee. That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it’s been sorted. All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality.”

And apparently NBC has worked a two-for-one deal, bringing in Spears’ fiance Jason Trawick as a producer on the show. Another source reportedly explained the package deal by saying, “Jason is expected to be there every day Britney is on set. He is her rock and will help guide her through the process. He is the person she trusts the most.

Spears will be filling one of the chairs left empty when Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger weren’t invited back for season #2. There’s no word on who might be tapped to be the other judge.

‘LOL’ Trailer with Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus stars in LOL, a high school relationship drama also featuring Demi Moore, Ashley Greene, Douglas Booth, Thomas Jane, Adam Sevani, Jay Hernandez, and Marlo Thomas. Written and directed by Lisa Azuelos, the comedy is Miley Cyrus’ first starring role since The Last Song.

The Plot:

LOL is a remake of the hugely popular 2008 French film LOL (Laughing Out Loud). Starting a new year of high school, Lola (Cyrus)—or “Lol,” as her friends call her—works to find the right balance between family, school, friends, and romance. Broken-hearted by her ex, Lol’s world is soon turned upside down when she is surprised to find her best friend, Kyle (Douglas Booth), a musician in an up-and-coming rock band, could possibly be the love of her life.

In her quest towards independence, self-identity, and young adulthood, Lol discovers that while Facebook “status” is easy to change, true relationships are worth the effort.

LOL hits theaters in May 4, 2012.

AMC Announces Thief of Thieves Project from Robert Kirkman

Thief of Thieves ComicThe Walking Dead executive producer/writer Robert Kirkman and Chic Eglee (Dexter) are in development on a new series, Thief of Thieves. Kirkman wrote the comic that will serve as source material for the project set up at AMC, with Eglee on board as showrunner.
 
“Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals,” explains Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comic.
 
“AMC recognizes the limitless ideas generated by the comic industry,” added Kirkman. “Their dedication to bringing The Walking Dead to life as a TV show has been key to its success and I’m excited about the potential of Thief of Thieves to reach similar levels of success. […] Working with AMC has been a tremendously positive experience and I’m looking forward to continuing and strengthening our relationships there and I can’t neglect to mention I’ve been dying to work with Chic again since we wrapped on The Walking Dead Season 1.”
 
The Plot:
 
The story focuses on master thief Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife and son, vows to walk the straight and narrow, only to discover he’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the “Thief of Thieves.”

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson Prepare a Cop Drama for the Small Screen

Deadline’s reporting Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are collaborating with director Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) on an 8 episode cop drama called True Detective. The series doesn’t have a network to call home yet, but with buddies Harrelson and McConaughey on board it’s likely to get picked up quickly.
 
McConaughey and Harrelson starred in Ron Howard’s 1999 comedy, Edtv, and reunited in 2008 for the independent surfer film, Surfer, Dude.
 
Nic Pizzolatto (The Killing) wrote True Detective which, according to Deadline, “centers on two detectives, Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened.”
 
Deadline also reports that the idea will be to solve the mystery in one 8 episode season, with season #2 – if there is one – focusing on a different mystery.
