Fender to Introduce Kurt Cobain Jaguar Guitar

Fender just added a new guitar to its catalog with the addition of the “Kurt Cobain Jaguar” model. The guitar was modeled on the 1965 Jaguar Kurt Cobain played with Nirvana during the early ’90s.

According to Fender’s press statement, their craftsmen were able to reproduce “Cobain’s battle-hardened left-handed Jaguar down to the last unusual detail, including its worn finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls (which were already in place when Kurt acquired the guitar in summer 1991).”

The Kurt Cobain Jaguar has an alder body with “aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape with 1950s-style spaghetti logo under the finish, DiMarzio® humbucking DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and DP100 Super Distortion bridge pickup, triple knurled chrome-dome knob configuration (volume-volume-tone), three-position toggle switch, black chrome Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and Gotoh® sealed tuners.”

Regis Philbin Reveals His Retirement Date

During today’s Live! With Regis and Kelly show Regis Philbin revealed his last day on the popular program will be Friday, November 18, 2011. The 80-year-old announced his desire to retire back in January, but it wasn’t until today that he confirmed exactly when he’d be signing off from the ABC series for good.

Producer Michael Gelman said that as of right now, Philbin’s replacement is not in place. Among the celebs rumored to be in the running to take over are Howie Mandel and Survivor‘s Jeff Probst.

Philbin kidded his co-host Kelly Ripa saying she’ll be trying out new men to take his place, but no matter who finally lands the co-hosting gig, they’ll have big shoes to fill. Philbin’s been appearing on the daytime TV series since 1983 and was joined in 1985 by Kathie Lee Gifford. Ripa took over co-hosting duties when Gifford left in 2001.

Official Synopsis: A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum’s got plenty of attitude, even if she’s been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company…as a recovery agent. True, she doesn’t even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn’t stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny’s biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli – yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.
 
Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback – and a hefty payday – but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who’s the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn’t airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself…well, suddenly Stephanie’s new job isn’t nearly as easy as she thought.

Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, and Taylor Swift Top the CMA Awards Nominees List

The 45th Annual CMA Awards
The complete list of nominees for this year’s Country Music Awards has been released and four artists have tied for the most nominations with five a piece. Jason Aldean picked up nominations in the Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album (for My Kinda Party), Single and Musical Event of the Year (for “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Kelly Clarkson). Brad Paisley earned his nominations in the Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album (for This is Country Music), Musical Event and Music Video of the Year (for “Old Alabama” featuring Alabama and directed by Jim Shea). Paisley’s five new nominations bring his total to 57 career nominations, behind only George Strait (81) and Alan Jackson (80).

The Voice host Blake Shelton is nominated in the Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album (for All About Tonight), Single, and Music Video of the Year (for “Honey Bee” directed by Trey Fanjoy). And Taylor Swift received five nominations including Entertainer, Female Vocalist, Album (for Speak Now produced by Swift and Nathan Chapman), Music Video for “Mean,” and Song of the Year (for “Mean” written by Swift, her first nomination as a songwriter).

The 45th Annual CMA Awards will take place on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are once again teaming up to host the show.

Four-time Oscar nominee Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno) reunites with Juno‘s Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody for the comedy/drama Young Adult starring Charlize Theron (yes, that’s her as ‘Mavis Gary’ passed out drunk on the poster). Set for a December 9, 2011 release, the film follows Theron as a young adult novelist who returns to her hometown in an attempt to reconnect with her high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson).

Official Synopsis: Kate Reddy (Parker) devotes her days to her job with a Boston-based financial management firm. At night she goes home to her adoring, recently-downsized architect husband Richard (Kinnear) and their two young children. It’s a non-stop balancing act, the same one that Kate’s acerbic best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks) performs on a daily basis, and that Kate’s super-brainy, child-phobic young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn) fully intends to avoid. When Kate gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, Richard also wins the new job he’s been hoping for—and both will be spreading themselves even thinner. Hollywood Film Festival to Honor Rango

The Hollywood Film Festival has named Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies’ Rango as the winner of their 2011 Hollywood Animation Award, it was announced today by the festival organizers. The award will be presented at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala to be held on October 24, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
 
Carlos de Abreu, Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Film Festival, made the announcement, stating. “It is a great pleasure to recognize Rango as the recipient of our animation award. This piece of cinematic treasure borders on surrealism and Rango will be a classic for generations to come.”
 
Past winners of the festival’s Hollywood Animation Award include Pixar’s WALL-E, Up, Ratatouille, and Toy Story 3.
 
Rango, special effect house Industrial Light & Magic’s first animated feature film, was directed by Gore Verbinski (the 1st three Pirates of the Caribbean films) and featured the voices of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant. 
 
About Rango:
The story follows the comical, transformative journey of “Rango” (Depp), a sheltered chameleon living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis.  After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in?  When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt, a lawless outpost populated by the desert’s most wily and whimsical creatures, the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt . . . until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be.

Vin Diesel Updates the Progress on New Riddick Film

Vin Diesel’s reuniting with writer/director David Twohy for a third Riddick film, with production gearing up on the follow-up to 2000’s Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick. Diesel will return as the lead character and he’s been keeping his Facebook fans up-to-date on the progress of this new Riddick movie.

I hear you…

While I was working on character, the Director and his team of artists have been creating the world and style of this picture. We all know how much I enjoy concept art and storyboards, haha, I am like a kid in a candy shop.

Seeing the early stage of CGI is always fascinating to me, it is a element that usually comes together long after the filming process, so you look forward to seeing it fully realized.

First stop for the Riddick production is Canada, which is where we shot a large part of Chronicles…

P.s. I am grateful to have Universal in such support of this complex character’s journey… not many studios would back an “R” rating. Very cool.”

The film doesn’t have title yet – or at least not one that’s officially been revealed – but we do know the synopsis:

“Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.”

Universal’s aiming for a 2012 release.

Michael Fassbender had not just one but two films screening at this year’s Venice International Film Festival: David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method in which he plays Carl Jung to Viggo Mortensen’s Sigmund Freud, and Shame from writer/director Steve McQueen (Fassbender also starred in McQueen’s Hunger). Shame finds Fassbender starring as a 30-something sex addict, delivering a performance the London Evening Standard says shows Fassbender’s “command of the screen is total.” And The Hollywood Reporter says of his performances in A Dangerous Method and Shame: “As a filmgoer, the experience was a one-two punch of forceful acting and thoughtful provocation.”
