‘Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler’ Season Finale Exclusive Clip

The first season of Oxygen True Crime’s riveting Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler concludes with episode 10 airing on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 8pm ET/PT. Episode 10, “Justice Is Green,” focuses on the murder and dismemberment of Morris Black in 2003. Robert Durst was charged with his neighbor Black’s murder and pleaded not guilty by reason of self-defense. In this exclusive clip from the season one finale, Kelly Siegler provides a crash course in self-defense and reveals that self-defense cases are more difficult to prosecute than you’d think.

“When you read the legal paragraph of what justifies self-defense, there’s a lot of words,” explains Siegler, the former Chief of Special Crimes in the busiest courthouse in Texas. “And it’s hard to make a jury understand all those words and all those little elements and pieces matter before self-defense applies.”

“A torso found floating in Galveston Bay, Texas, leads to the arrest of billionaire Robert Durst,” reads Oxygen True Crime’s synopsis. “For the first time, Kelly Siegler gets attorneys from both the defense and prosecution to discuss the ‘Texas Trial of the Century.'”

Prosecuting Evil with Kelly Siegler takes an in-depth look at harrowing homicides that took place in Texas. Siegler provides special insight into the investigations, sharing the knowledge she’s acquired from spending more than two decades as a prosecutor.

The true-crime series is executive produced by Siegler, Dick Wolf, Casey Kriley, Jo Sharon, Adam Kassen, Andrew Nock, and Tom Thayer.

Discovery Channel’s set a February 18, 2024 premiere date for Naked and Afraid season 17. The trailer for the upcoming season shows survivalists coming face to face with hippos, a lion, and crocodiles as they attempt to survive the elements – and their partners – in primitive conditions.

Discovery Channel offered this description of the upcoming season:

“Throughout the series, the participants must overcome their personal struggles and face the raw brutality of nature without easy access to food, water, or clothing. In the premiere episode, a hunter and a farmer pool their knowledge as they attempt to survive 21 days in South Africa. But when the wildlife proves too stealthy to hunt, the survivalists take a life-threatening risk for food.

Later this season, two veteran fan-favorite survivalists return to mentor two newcomers in an all-women tribe’s challenge in Colombia; a pair of Naked and Afraid critics use their armchair survival knowledge to attempt to make it through a 14-day fan challenge; and a survivalist must cope with menstruation in the middle of the African bush. Scarce food resources and mosquito-infested tropics are just the beginning of what lies ahead for these survivalists.”

‘Truth and Lies’ Returns with Long Island Serial Killer Episode

ABC News Studios’ popular Truth and Lies documentary series returns with three new two-hour episodes, the first of which focuses on the hunt for the Long Island serial killer and the arrest of Rex Heuermann. Truth and Lies: The Hunted premieres on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT.

Episode two takes viewers inside the Titan submersible tragedy and investigates the final voyage of the Titanic sightseeing service. Episode three examines the Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) community and its controversial founder Warren Jeffs.

The docuseries premiered in 2017 with three episodes on the Menendez brothers, Jeffrey Epstein, and the Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton scandal. Produced by ABC News Studios, the documentary series is executive produced by Muriel Pearson and David Sloan.

Truth and Lies Episode Descriptions, Courtesy of ABC:

Truth and Lies: The Hunted (Jan. 25)

After 23-year-old escort Shannan Gilbert disappeared in 2010, police stumbled upon a serial killer’s graveyard in Gilgo Beach, Long Island — which held the human remains of four other missing sex workers. Shortly after, authorities discovered six more bodies along the same stretch of road. Truth and Lies: The Hunted chronicles the twists and turns in the decade-long investigation to find the Long Island serial killer, uncovering allegations of corruption and police biases that slowed the investigation and enraged the victims’ family members.

This episode takes viewers inside the task force that used new technology that led to the July 2023 arrest of the man now accused of murdering those four sex workers: Rex Heuermann, a husband and father who police claim was leading a dark double life. Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to these charges. Truth and Lies: The Hunted explores the police’s ongoing investigation of this notorious case and dives deep into the subculture of sex work, giving viewers the point of view of the women behind these headlines.

Truth and Lies: Final Dive of the Titan (Feb. 8)

Entrepreneur Stockton Rush dreamed of a revolutionary submersible that could take adventurous tourists into the deep sea to view the fabled Titanic wreckage. Truth and Lies: Final Dive of the Titan reports on how Rush’s Titan submersible became a cautionary tale about the risks of innovation. Through interviews with Rush’s friends, former Titan “mission specialists” and adventure pioneers, the episode explores the groundbreaking technology behind the Titan, painting a picture of both the excitement and devastation surrounding the deadly venture.

The program also takes viewers through the pivotal moments that ultimately led to the demise of the Titan and all on board its final tragic journey into the deep sea.

Truth and Lies: The Doomsday Prophet (Feb. 15)

Truth and Lies: The Doomsday Prophet examines the secretive Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) community and the unconventional and controversial life of its founder, Warren Jeffs, exploring the rise of the sect and its practice of polygamy. The episode features harrowing, exclusive interviews with courageous ex-FLDS members, including one of Jeffs’ former wives and his daughter. Never-before-seen footage takes viewers inside this closed community that encourages women to “keep sweet” by suppressing emotions and obeying their husbands and the all-knowing prophet.

By unraveling the complexities of power, faith and control, the documentary paints a vivid portrait of the impact the FLDS had on its followers and the broader implications of Jeffs’ leadership, which still influences the society he constructed.

‘FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans’ Trailer #2: Truman’s Betrayal Has Consequences

FX’s new trailer for FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans shows Truman Capote’s rise in importance among New York’s wealthiest socialites, followed by his banishment by the “swans” after revealing their most intimate secrets. Tom Hollander stars as the bestselling author who betrayed the trust of the high society women he befriended.

Season two of the anthology series also stars Naomi Watts as “Babe” Paley, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, and Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill. Demi Moore plays Ann “Bang-Bang” Woodward, Molly Ringwald is Joanne Carson, Treat Williams is Bill Paley, Joe Mantello is Jack Dunphy, and Russell Tovey plays John O’Shea.

Based on Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer, the eight-episode season premieres on January 31, 2024 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes arrive on Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT.

Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch direct, and Jon Robin Baitz adapted the book for the series. Baitz, Van Sant, Ryan Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Naomi Watts, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson serve as executive producers.

The Plot, Courtesy of FX:

“Acclaimed writer Truman Capote surrounded himself with a coterie of society’s most elite women – rich, glamorous socialites who defined a bygone era of high society New York – whom he nicknamed ‘the swans.’ Beautiful and distinguished, the group included grande dame Barbara “Babe” Paley, Slim Keith, C.Z. Guest, and Lee Radziwill.

Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society he so loved and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.”

Eoin Macken’s going from being attacked by dinosaurs while trapped in 10,000 BC on La Brea to series regular on Netflix’s Ransom Canyon. James Brolin (Sweet Tooth) and Lizzy Greene (A Million Little Things) are also onboard the first season of the 10-episode drama.

The three new series regulars join previously announced cast members Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly in the new series from writer, executive producer, and creator April Blair (Wednesday). Amanda Marsalis will direct the first two episodes.

Ransom Canyon‘s Cast/Characters:

  • James Brolin as Cap – Cap Fuller is an ex army captain, and the brash, bullheaded owner of Fuller Ranch. After losing his only son in Afghanistan, Cap buried his grief in work and the occasional drink, his once renowned ranch having fallen into slight disrepair. Resisting pressure to sell, Cap hires new foreman, Yancy Grey, and is quick to let the young man know exactly what he’s doing wrong. About as salty as they come, Cap is kept in line only by Ellie, daughter of a fallen brother in arms, who checks in on him from time to time.
  • Eoin Macken as Davis Collins – Davis is the charming, ivy-educated owner of the modern Bar W Ranch. Unlike his counterpart Staten Kirkland, Davis is intent on capitalizing on the invaluable aquifer running below Ransom’s ranch land. But this is far from the first issue that Staten and Davis have butted heads over. The two biggest landowners in Ransom, the Kirkland and Collins families have been feuding for generations. But passionate stances on the water pipeline aren’t the only thing Davis and Staten share — both have fallen hard for the beguiling Quinn O’Grady, lavender farmer and owner of the local dancehall in Ransom.
  • Lizzy Greene as Lauren Brigman – Ransom Canyon’s ambitious head cheerleader. The daughter of the town Sheriff and girlfriend of cocky quarterback, Reid Collins, Lauren appears to be living her best life…but all she really wants is to put this small town in her rearview. With her sights set on making the cheer team at UT Austin as her ticket out, Lauren must navigate her strict father’s desire for her to stay in Ransom. Lauren’s only reprieve comes in the form of a new, unexpected love interest: Lucas Russell, a kind-hearted underdog from the other side of the tracks who her father and her friends do not approve of.
  • Josh Duhamel as Staten Kirkland – Staten Kirkland is the owner and sole occupant of the sprawling Double K Ranch. Steadfast and stoic, Staten leads the charge to resist outside forces threatening his way of life and the land that he loves.
  • Minka Kelly as Quinn – Quinn has often found herself in the shadow of others, but after a stint in New York pursuing her career as a concert pianist, she has returned to Ransom Canyon to carve out a new path for herself.
