Showtime’s Billions season seven episode nine will, finally, find Mike Prince’s enemies making their big move(s). Episode eight felt weirdly out of place and like filler, so hopefully episode nine will more than make up for “The Owl.”
Episode nine, “Game Theory Optional,” will air on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, October 6, 2023. Season seven episodes also air on Showtime on Sundays at 8pm ET/PT.
Season seven stars Paul Giamatti as Chuck Rhoades, Corey Stoll as Mike Prince, Maggie Siff as Wendy Rhoades, David Costabile as Mike “Wags” Wagner, Asia Kate Dillon as Taylor Mason, and Dola Rashad as Kate Sacker. Jeffrey DeMunn plays Chuck Rhoades Sr., Sakina Jaffrey is Daevisha “Dave” Mahar, Kelly AuCoin is “Dollar” Bill Stern, Daniel Breaker is Roger “Scooter” Dunbar, and Toney Goins plays Philip Charyn.
Damian Lewis reprises his role as Bobby Axelrod for the final season.
“Game Theory Optional” Plot: Chuck makes a daring and risky move to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to taking Prince down. Prince gets tipped off about a potential mutiny among his ranks. Wendy is tempted by a new opportunity.

The trailer for The CW’s new procedural introduces Victoria and Darby Spencer who are, despite the show’s title, definitely not sisters. The Spencer Sisters stars Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) as Victoria, a bestselling author and mom of Darby (Stacey Farber, Schitt’s Creek). Both mother and daughter share an interest in solving crimes, and together they take on cases that stump the police.
Episode one, “The Scholar’s Snafu,” will air on October 4, 2023. New season one episodes arrive on Wednesdays at 9pm ET/PT.
Joining Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber in what’s described as a “female-led, lighthearted procedural” are:
Thomas Antony Olajide (Learn To Swim) as Zane Graham, Darby’s high school best friend and local cop.
Edward Ruttle (Arctic Air) as Dr. Lucas Collins, Darby’s high school flame.
Husein Madhavji (Saving Hope) as Alastair Dhumal, Victoria’s IT Consultant (a.k.a. hacker).
Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves (Sort Of) as Sarita Stark, Victoria’s feisty literary agent.
Rodrigo Massa (El Dragon: Return of a Warrior) as Zane’s husband, Antonio Pereira, who operates a Brazilian bistro.
Kaitlyn Leeb (Spinning Out) as Lindsay Yip, a hotshot lawyer who is Lucas’ fiancée.
Adam Hurtig (Cult of Chucky) as the lead detective of the local police force.
Private Eyes‘ Alan McCullough created the series and serves as executive producer and co-showrunner with executive producer Jenn Engels (Sort Of). eOne’s Jocelyn Hamilton and Tecca Crosby and Buffalo Gal Pictures’ Phyllis Laing and Jennifer Beasley are also involved as executive producers.
“The Scholar’s Snafu” Plot: When Darby’s (Farber) friend is wrongfully accused of plagiarism, she and her estranged, best-selling mystery novelist mother Victoria Spencer (Thompson) must put aside their differences and investigate. The episode was written by Susin Nielsen and directed by Andy Mikita.
Paramount+ just released the trailer for Painkiller: The Tylenol Murders, a five-part documentary series that takes a deep dive into the 1982 Tylenol murders. The docuseries premieres on October 10, 2023 and examines the tragic deaths of seven people in Chicago after they purchased bottles that contained pills laced with poison.
The seven innocent victims ranged from 12 (Mary Kellerman) to 35 years old. Three of the unfortunate victims were members of the same family.
Nurse Helen Jensen discovered the thread between the victims, and it was determined someone had opened the packaging, injected captures with cyanide, and then resealed the bottles. The discovery forced stores across the U.S. to remove Tylenol from their shelves, and Johnson & Johnson initiated a recall of all Tylenol capsules.
The FBI and multiple law enforcement agencies investigated, but the person or persons responsible was never apprehended.

Painkiller follows as investigators focus on a key suspect: James Lewis. In real-time, the five-part docuseries unravels the dark, complicated mystery of the crime, exploring the various police missteps and the madness that consumed Lewis, who lived in plain sight for more than 40 years. The series meticulously pieces together other crimes to which Lewis was connected, including extortion, dismemberment and another murder.
Four decades later, the grieving families carry the horror of the heinous crime. Past clues and new technology raise the question: Could DNA evidence finally nail the killer?

A scene from ‘Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie’ from Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies, and Paramount Pictures
The pups devoted to rescue are back up on the big screen and this time with superpowers in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, the animated sequel to 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie.
The PG-rated film begins with a meteor headed straight for Adventure City, thanks to the work of mad scientist Victoria Vance (voiced by Taraji P. Henson). Naturally, the Paw Patrol kicks into action, working to clear the streets and get everyone out of the way of the gigantic crashing rock.
No one is injured, thanks to the quick work of the Paw Patrol. However, the crash of the meteor exposed the young pups to powerful energy crystals that had been hidden inside the space rock. Once released, these crystals give the Paw Patrol members superpowers.
Each pup receives a different power, such as being able to throw fire and transform into water. One even becomes strong like a boulder. Skye (voiced by Mckenna Grace), a Cockapoo pup, receives the ability to fly, which she’s thrilled about. Her newfound superpower helps her overcome her feelings of insecurity about being the runt of the group.
Because happy pups don’t make for much of a story, a villain is thrown into the mix in the form of their old nemesis, Humdinger. Humdinger has broken out of jail and teamed up with mad scientist Vance to steal the crystals from the Paw Patrol. Humdinger and Vance intend to use the superpowers to transform into supervillains that no one can defeat.
With Humdinger on the loose and up to no good, it falls upon the Paw Patrol to work together and try to stop the mad scientist and Humdinger from destroying Adventure City.
Colorful, cute, and with solid messages for children, Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is a fun, entertaining film for children 10 and under. The animated kid-friendly feature includes a handful of exciting action scenes. Especially impressive is a scene in which Skye must land a crashing jet onto the main city street with her pup teammates quickly clearing cars and people out of the way.
The movie benefits from a strong voice cast that includes Mckenna Grace, Kristen Bell, James Marsden, Chris Rock, Ron Pardo, Marsai Martin, Christian Convery, and Taraji P. Henson. The animation is an improvement over the Nickelodeon television series but unimpressive by today’s standards.
Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is a worthwhile watch for children who are fans of the television show and fit in the under-10 age group. There isn’t, however, anything in Paw Patrol for the adults. This one’s strictly for the kiddies who’ll be able to absorb and understand the intended positive messages of teamwork and having the courage to believe in yourself.
