‘Castle Rock’ Super Bowl Trailer: Welcome to Stephen King’s Twisted World

Hulu’s released the official trailer for the upcoming original series Castle Rock online prior to its debut during the 2018 Super Bowl on Sunday, February 4th. The 40 second video is loaded with so many references to Stephen King’s work that it’s necessary to watch the trailer a couple times to spot all the King-inspired goodies.

The series features Bill Skarsgard from It and Sissy Spacek from the original Carrie as well as André Holland (Moonlight), Melanie Lynskey (Togetherness), Jane Levy (Suburgatory), and Scott Glenn (The Leftovers, The Silence of the Lambs). The show was developed for television by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason. Shaw and Thomason serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Liz Glotzer. Hulu’s Castle Rock comes from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Castle Rock will premiere in the summer of 2018.

The Plot: A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, It, and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories such as Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock.

Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
