Hacks is going out on an Emmys high note. The critically acclaimed HBO Max series earned 24 nominations in comedy categories, with only HBO Max’s The Pitt earning more 2026 Emmy nominations. Hacks‘ 24 nominations move it into the top spot among all comedies in Emmys history, breaking the record for the most comedy nominations in a single year.
“This year’s nominees represent the extraordinary creativity and artistry that make
television such a dynamic form of entertainment,” stated Television Academy Chair
Cris Abrego. “The breadth of work recognized this year—from intimate character-driven comedies and satires to fantasy, thrillers, and costume dramas—demonstrates that great storytelling knows no bounds. We’re proud to celebrate the artists and craftspeople behind these remarkable achievements and look forward to honoring them at the Emmys this September.”
Following behind The Pitt and Hacks was Apple TV’s newcomer Widow’s Bay, which earned 19 nominations. Pluribus picked up 18, and Beef received 16 nominations.
Winners will be announced live on NBC on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay will host the 78th Emmy Awards.
