‘Impulse’ Teaser Trailer: YouTube’s New ‘Jumper’ Series

The teaser trailer’s finally arrived for the sci-fi thriller Impulse which will air exclusively on YouTube Red. The 10 hour-long episodes of the action drama’s first season are based on the third book in Steven Gould’s Jumper book series.

Series creator Doug Liman’s familiar with the world of Gould’s Jumper novels. Liman directed the feature film Jumper starring Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell, Diane Lane, Rachel Bilson, and Samuel L Jackson. That 2008 sci-fi film was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews, with 139 critics awarding it a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. Jumper had an $85 million budget and grossed $222 million worldwide before exiting theaters.

Impulse stars Maddie Hasson (I Saw the Light), Daniel Maslany (Four in the Morning), Missi Pyle (Another Period), Craig Arnold (Degrassi: The Next Generation), and Callum Keith Rennie (The Man in the High Castle). The series is executive produced by Liman, Gene Klein, and Lauren LeFranc, with LeFranc as the season one showrunner.

YouTube Red will debut the series – which looks more interesting than the 2008 film – this summer.

Steven Gould’s popular book series consists of 1992’s Jumper, 2004’s Reflex, 2013’s Impulse, and 2014’s Exo.

The Plot: Impulse features a rebellious 16-year-old girl who has always felt different from her peers and has longed to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. When a local football player attempts to assault her, she discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport. This newfound power confirms her conviction that she really was different from everybody else, but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her.
