Netflix’s official trailer for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story focuses heavily on the relationship between the titular character and the Borden maid, Bridget “Maggie” Sullivan. The trailer briefly touches on how the horrific murders of Lizzie’s parents were planned and how authorities at the time were convinced a woman wasn’t capable of such brutality.
Ella Beatty stars as Lizzie, Vicky Krieps plays Bridget Sullivan, Charlie Hunnam is Andrew Borden, Rebecca Hall is Abby Borden, Billie Lourd is Emma Borden, and Jessica Barden is Nance O’Neil. Joey Pollari and Sarah Paulson also star.
The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment in the Monster franchise, will premiere on September 17, 2026.

“When the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid find themselves trapped in a house built on humiliation and cruelty, they escape into a fantasy of sex, power, and revenge,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “The gruesome unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the world—they give birth to an icon who refuses to live imprisoned in a cage, choosing instead to forge her own legend: shocking, monstrous, and gloriously free.”
Ian Brennan created the series, wrote the eight-episode season, and executive produces. Max Winkler and Sarah Adina Smith direct, with Winkler, Ryan Murphy, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Louise Shore, Nissa Diederich, Todd Kubrak, Carl Franklin, and Tanase Popa executive producing.
