Netflix has given a series order to Minimum Wage, a workplace comedy based on the American High Shorts series. The Minimum Wage shorts series has a massive audience, pulling in 30+ million views on social media platforms since its debut in May 2024.
The first season of the Netflix series will consist of 28 episodes. The series stars Aidan Micho, Grace Reiter, Hyde Healy, Julia Dicesare, Luke Burke, Ryan Micho, and Tommy Armstrong.
“An ensemble workplace series set inside a chaotic local pizza shop, Minimum Wage follows a group of teenage employees battling power-tripping managers, an unhinged rush, and the slow grind of service-industry burnout,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “The stakes are low. The pressure is immense. The series carries the rapid-fire, short-form rhythm of the original American High Shorts digital content.”
Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer, The Hangover), founder of American High, will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer along with Will Phelps. Axelle Azoulay is also involved as an executive producer.
Netflix is targeting a late 2026 premiere.
American High productions include Pizza Movie, Rolling Loud, Summer of ’69, Prom Dates, The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, and Crush.
