Season one premiered in June 2020 and earned four Emmy nominations including one for Matthew Rhys in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series character. The first season was set in Los Angeles in 1931 and involved a child kidnapping. HBO offered this description of season two:

“Months after the Dodson case has come to an end, the scion of a powerful oil family is brutally murdered. When the DA goes to the city’s Hoovervilles to pinpoint the most obvious of suspects, Perry, Della, and Paul find themselves at the center of a case that will uncover far-reaching conspiracies and force them to reckon with what it truly means to be guilty.”

Perry Mason is based on characters created by Erle Stanley Gardner. Matthew Rhys, Jack Amiel, Michael Begler, Amanda Burrell, Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Joe Horacek, and Tim Van Patten serve as executive producers.
