Things heated up (literally) on Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Summer School episode three as poor Mouse (Malia Pyles) had a terrible birthday. She ended up at an abandoned Chuck E. Cheese-ish restaurant where she was forced to play hide and seek with Bloody Rose Waters. After escaping Rose and a fire, what on earth will episode four put the BFFs through?
Read on for what went down in episode four, “When a Stranger Calls Back.”
The BFFs gather at Pinball Pizza to talk about what happened. Mouse is convinced it really is Bloody Rose Waters. Faran (Zaria) seems to want Rose to bring it on, thinking she can kick her butt. The girls realize they are all “final girls,” and Imogen (Bailee Madison) suggests that no one should answer their phone. However, Faran still doesn’t want to back down because she is in the best shape of her life.
Imogen gives Dr. Sullivan (Annabeth Gish) a ring but gets her voicemail. Mouse questions her grandmother, Lola, about who called and told her to take her to that place. “She said her name was Rose and that she was calling from the other side,” replies Lola.

Mouse throws out the idea that maybe their summons worked, and that Rose is a ghost. Tabby (Chandler Kinney) is not ready to go down that avenue just yet. Imogen receives a call from Dr. Sullivan’s office and it appears Dr. Sullivan was in a minor accident. The girls don’t believe this could be a coincidence, so they decide to keep their heads down and mouths shut.
Elsewhere, Kelly (Mallory Bechtel) and Greg (Elias Kacavas) practice for the church play. Kelly tries to rewrite some scenes and Pastor Malachi isn’t happy and orders Kelly to come to confession the next day.
Dr. Sullivan informs Imogen that she thinks she was pushed down the stairs.
Tabby gets an unknown call at work and after getting angry with the caller, she learns it’s the chairwoman of the Pittsburgh International Festival of Terror. They would love it if she could submit another short. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have one ready. But fortunately, she has two days to come up with something. Christian (Noah Alexander Gerry) offers to help her get one shot to submit.
Imogen fills the girls in on what happened to Dr. Sullivan. Mouse confesses she thinks she is responsible for creating Bloody Rose. In the early days of Spooky Spaghetti, she posted information on what Archie’s mask looks like and people ran with it. The girls still aren’t convinced this is the real Rose Waters and think they need to track down the real Rose. Mouse thinks they can use Spooky Spaghetti to help with their search.
Tabby shares the news about the festival and enlists everyone’s help to make her new short. The problem is, she has no clue what it is going to be about.
After a brief glimpse of Tabby and Chip with a box full of ideas, Tabby tells Christian she may have an idea: a psychotic projectionist who killed someone in a movie theater 20 years ago. Christian is all in and convinces Tabby to play the lead.
Imogen visits Dr. Sullivan again and while doing a crossword puzzle, she experiences a flashback of being in the hospital with a broken arm and doing a crossword puzzle with her mom.
The girls and their beaus show up at the theater to help Tabby film her short. They have a blast doing it and totally get into the horror film spirit.
Mouse explains exactly what she’s doing to Ash (Jordan Gonzalez) while publishing a post on Spooky Spaghetti seeking Rose Waters.
Noa (Maia Reficco) is at work when the phone rings. Her boss answers and no one responds. He believes it to be another prank call, and Noa freaks out. Jen (Ava Capri) thinks they should do something fun and suggests they head to her dad’s house to go swimming.

Henry (Ben Cook) shows up at the pool with apology flowers for Faran. He feels awful about being upset with her when she didn’t tell him she got the all-clear to dance again.
Noa and Jen have a fun time getting drunk, playing pool, and trying on clothes from a huge closet. Noa asks how her dad got rich, and Jen claims her dad left her mom high and dry. A horrible suggestion’s made that they should take one of the Rolexes he owns and sell it.
Kelly shows up at church for her confession but instead finds her mom and Pastor Malachi sneaking into confession together. Her revenge? Going skinny dipping with Greg.
As Tabby is editing her short, she has a flashback of her and Chip.
Imogen gets a call from her baby’s adopted father asking her to watch baby Estelle. Sadly, his husband’s father passed away and they could use her help. She’s more than happy to watch Estelle, but of course, it doesn’t go smoothly. While she’s babysitting, Mr. Winters calls and says they received an alert on their security system that one of their windows was opened. Now on high alert, Imogen calls Johnny to come hang out with her. She grabs a knife, ready to defend herself against who knows what or who.
Armed with a knife, Imogen sets out to search the house. First up is Estelle’s room where she discovers the bedroom window is open. She heads downstairs, now with tears streaming down her face and holding her baby and a knife. Johnny (Antonio Cipriano) shows up and wonders if she’s in a full-on spiral.

Johnny asks if she’s okay and Imogen admits it’s been a crazy couple of days. After she spills the beans on what has been going on, Johnny slips and says something about “most girls he dates,” which Imogen picks up on. Imogen’s having a moment when Mr. Winters calls saying he saw Johnny on the Ring camera.
Faran told Henry she’d teach him to swim after hours, but actually just wanted some alone time for making out. Unfortunately, those plans are put on hold when Kelly and Greg show up at the pool.
Kelly thinks it’s great Henry and Faran are good again. Apparently, Henry has been sharing their problems in a group session. Faran had no idea and becomes upset that other people know their business.
Mouse is excited when her post gets lots of comments about Rose Waters sightings. Ash points out that the list of places is long.
After coming home from her late-night swim, Kelly’s mom channels her inner Margaret White from the horror movie Carrie and calls her a sinner. Kelly begs her mom, “Mama, please! Mama, no!”
Wednesday, June 11th
Kelly wakes up in a room full of crosses and a family photo with her dad’s face scratched out with an X. Her mom is there smiling at her, offering food, and telling her she must stay strong.
When Imogen leaves the next day, she discovers Johnny spent all night in his car making sure she was safe. They share a kiss. Elsewhere, Tabby comes clean to Christian that she had previously bounced this idea for her short off of Chip. Christian doesn’t think she should let Chip (even in death) take this away from her. Tabby rewards him with a kiss.
Noa receives a collect call from Jen who, it turns out, is in jail and needs $2,000 for bail. Noa’s boyfriend, Shawn, thinks they should bail her out.
A quick roundup of a few events: Jen is throwing herself a pity party and Noa goes in for a kiss. Mouse and Ash set out on an adventure to locate Rose. Faran gets a call, and the voice on the other end is the same as the person who called Mouse. The caller taunts Faran and asks if she’s strong enough now. “Or are you the same weak, little broken, scarred Faran?” asks the caller.
Faran heads to an abandoned construction site as instructed. There’s a mannequin with a note that reads, “A final girl can never lose her strength. Lift the girder. If it touches the ground before time runs out, someone you love dies.”
Mouse calls Imogen with news on where Rose Waters might be. Imogen tells her not to do anything yet. She will round up the girls and meet her there.
A split screen shows the girls at a homeless camp and Faran desperately trying to hold on to the girder.
The girls locate Rose and inform her that Archie is alive. In a shocking move, Rose runs past the girls and jumps off a bridge. The girls look for proof that she is Rose Waters and find not just a picture of Angela Waters but her file from the mental institution. It turns out her doctor at Radley Sanitarium was none other than Dr. Sullivan!
Episode four wraps up by upping the creepy factor. An exhausted Faran outlasts the timer, but Bloody Rose is there and they begin to fight. Faran’s arm is slashed but she barely manages to escape Rose.
