‘Spiderhead’ Clip Starring Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller

Netflix’s Geeked Week event dropped a new clip from the psychological thriller Spiderhead directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski. The three-minute clip features Chris Hemsworth as the head of a penitentiary who uses drugs to manipulate willing prisoners (Miles Teller and Tess Haubrich).

Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country) and Mark Paguio (Lonesome) also star along with Hemsworth (the Thor films), Teller (currently seen on the big screen opposite Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick), and Haubrich (Treadstone).

Deadpool‘s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the screenplay, based on a short story by George Saunders. Hemsworth, Reese, Wernick, Eric Newman, Agnes Chu, Geneva Wasserman, Tommy Harper, and Jeremy Steckler produced.

Spiderhead will premiere on Netflix on June 17, 2022.

The Spiderhead Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells, or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they’re not.

At times, they’re a better version. Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. At a loss for words? There’s a drug for that, too. But when two subjects, Jeff (Teller) and Lizzy (Smollett), form a connection, their path to redemption take a twistier turn, as Abnesti’s experiments start to push the limits of free will altogether.
