Apple Original Films is taking an unusual approach to building the buzz for Spirited. Instead of the usual movie posters, Apple’s opted to release four behind-the-scenes posters for what they’re describing as a modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story A Christmas Carol.
The posters feature the musical’s stars Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer. And Reynolds mentioned the posters’ release on Twitter, tweeting, “For some reason, these are called iPosters.” (It’s Friday and my brain’s in weekend mode so it took me a minute to figure out the joke.)
The cast also includes Patrick Page, Sunita Mani, Loren Woods, Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, and Jen Tullock. Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home, Horrible Bosses 2) and John Morris co-wrote the screenplay, with Anders directing. Anders, Morris, Reynolds, Ferrell, George Dewey, Jessica Elbaum, and David Koplan produced.
The posters’ release was accompanied by the news Spirited will sing and dance its way into theaters on November 11, 2022, followed by a release on Apple TV+ on November 18th.
