That’s Why God Made the Radio, the 29th studio album released by The Beach Boys, has entered the Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart at #3. That’s the highest debut of any of the group’s new albums over their 50th year career, and the top entry on the chart since 1965’s Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!!) for The Beach Boys (the compilation album, Endless Summer, did hit number one in 1974).

That’s Why God Made the Radio hit stores on June 5th and sold 61,000 copies during its first week in release.

You can catch The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks) performing as part of the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series on June 15th, and the 50th anniversary special The Beach Boys: Doin’ It Again will be airing in June and July on PBS.
